Why is this leaking?

This is a CV boot on the gearbox side of a 356. It is leaking since it was newly replaced. Can someone enlighten me on why?

Is the seam at 45° from vertical or vertical? Can't tell from the pic.

Could be. Some sealer at the end gaps helps, too.

They don't have original rubber anymore.

Been there, John’s advise is spot on, mine still would weep on the wheel side. Ended up sanding a smooth section on the tube and sealing. Sorry do not remember the sealant I used but no leaks since.
