Sc to 3.2 wiring conversion help / 14 pin connector

Trying to understand this and for some reason I’m not

I have this picture

The car is 82sc, the motor is 85 3.2

I have left the 82sc 14 pin connector in tact and untouched in engine compartment.

I have the 85 connector opened up.

What I’m confused on is the two red wires (12v)

The 14 pin red wire is hot on the 82, do I need to remove the two red wires out the motor plug so I’m not back feeding power?

Pin 2 red wire can be deleted on the female 14 pin plug from the new engine. Keep pin 14 red wire.
Just cut pin 2 wire off at the female terminal solder point.
Follow the rest of the notes for deletion doing the same thing.
