993 varioram Airbox or Cone Filter? which is better
Hi all,
I have a 993 varioram going into my IROC tribute. The engine did not come with an airbox so I either need to source one or put an aftermarket set up on. Does anyone have any input as to which is better? I plan on running a set of Georges headers and some kind of RSR style exhaust. Thanks, JZ

if you use the stock 993 console and cross bar the engine is low enough that the stock box w/ a modified cover fits you can see here where I cut away part of the cover to clear the hinges ![]() if using the 3.2 console and 911 crossbar the engine sits higher so thee is more of an issue, most use a completely cut away cover like on this one ![]() of course you can always use a cone too, but I'd rather have the stock air cleaner

Thanks Bill. I am using a 3.2 console. I did raise the package tray for clearance but don't think that helps the issue you mention above.
So... find a used or buy a new airbox and then cut it up. I guess that nifty mounting clamp is available from Fabspeed?
