Does anyone have smooth running PMO cabs

Looking at the PMO carbs.
Have read a lot of reviews and installation threads.
Do any of you have a smooth operating and reliable PMO set up?
How do you handle cold morning start ups?
Thanks
Michael

Yes many of us

These carbs are fantastic when tuned properly

Issue is finding someone who actually knows what they're doing

Yes, smooth. 2 pumps when cold and throttle stop until warm. When warm just turn the key with slight throttle opening.

Just make sure you will have the fuel PMO regulator in the system.I did this for a guy who would drive his 911 with Webers for 10 years always crying due to the a lot of fuel in the exhaust. So i got him PMO from the company and here is how it sounds..he was happy camper

Hi
"How do you handle cold morning start ups?"
These carbs have no choke for starting enrichment.
Your only enrichment tool is the accelerator pump.
For Webers:
Allow electric fuel pump to run and fill float chambers
Apply full hand throttle
Give gas pedal a couple of pumps.
Crank engine with starter while pumping gas pedal until engine fires.
If RPM sags give another quick pump of gas pedal to richen mixture via accelerator pump
As engine warms up, reduce hand throttle to zero.
Cheers

True; and if it has Carbs it needs one retrofitted. :-)

Lots of good info here:

Been running PMOs for several years on the 2.2 in my 1971. Amazing throttle response, no surging, no flat spots, just smooth acceleration. Also no popping on deceleration. On my recent roadtrip from Phoenix to Monterey I experienced temps from the 50s-100s, plenty of elevation changes, and a mix of highways and backroads. Ran perfectly the entire trip with no issues whatsoever and I averaged 24mpg.

I haven't found the "need" for a hand throttle

Although I'd like to have one for warm ups and "cruise control"

I agree, while the hand throttle is nice to have it isn’t mandatory. Unless ambient temps are below 40 degrees, the engine should be warmed and settled into a smooth idle in 2-3 minutes max, much sooner when ambient temps are 70 degrees or warmer.

Hand throttle is very nice to have on cold mornings and as a poor man’s cruise control it’s great to be able to stretch one’s leg for a few mins.
