Idle adjust... which way?
Before I start fiddling with my engine, which way do you turn the large idle adjust screw to increase the idle slightly? Clockwise or anticlockwise? ['77 CIS 2.7 liter]
Thanks, -MAS

Clockwise to decrease idle, Counter(Anti) Clockwise to increase.

You'll know as soon as you start turning it.

Unfortunately it's a bit more complicated than that, which is why I only asked the one question. Here's my problem: That's what I thought when I tried to adjust the idle a couple of months ago. However, it seems that my idle is often slowly goes down from about 1000 rpm to about 200... and then to stall after a minute or two (sometimes faster). It's at its worst when the car has been running at a higher rpm. There seems to be little difference in the idle no matter which way I rotate the screw. Any other ideas where the problem may be? Thanks ![]() -MAS

Wow, that is a bit more complicated! Have you done anything recently that may have caused a problem? Has it always been that way?

The idle has always been a bit of a problem. The local Porsche dealer has a few mechanics that know older Porsches really well... so I think I'm going to ante up the $$$ for a full tune up from the dealer. I'll leave it to them to replace any leaking/worn hoses, etc.
