Carrera Script "Stealth"

In my motorcycling days I recall seeing some gorgeous paint jobs with flames on gas tanks in the same color as the background. It was a texture-only effect and you had to look closely to see it. So, I got an idea. I installed a black Carrera script on the sides of my black Carrera. In the shade or anything after dusk, it simply cannot be seen. In bright sunlight, it is plainly visible. When I got done installing them, my wife walked out into the garage and couldn't understand what the heck I'd been working on for 2 hours. She couldn't see a thing (and neither could I until the next morning). Will leave them on for a few weeks before I decide if they'll stay or go. You may need to turn up the brightness of your monitor if you can't see them. Both pics are in the direct sunlight, but one is much more visible than the other.

BTW...engine in this car is officially "for sale". If interested, please see classifieds. 3.6 V-ram swap (from Steve Timmins) is scheduled for mid-October .

I am planning on doing the same thing with my black 88, very cool. Sort of like the factory Carrera badge on the back deck. Black on black.

I really, really like it. Subtle, makes you look twice.

I wonder if tone-on-tone script would look good on other color 911s.

Any ideas how to get Carrera script in other colors, e.g. matching a Baltic Blue car?

Back in the musclecar days, they made black cars with black reflective stripes. When light hit the stripes at night, they flouresced gold, otherwise they were just flat black on the glossy paint. Very cool!

Ah, tone on tone is a great look. very reserved, but rewarding when you take a longer look. I think that there are lots of cool options here. For example, spraying the script in a mettalic or pearl that matches the hue of the solid color base coat would be cool. Or a candy over a metalic base coat.

or, as exc911ence mentioned, an updated version of the old hot rod trick, flip flop pearls that are the same main color.

I bet that no matter what the base color is, even Baltic Blue, there are cool options in the House of Kolors book.

(I just sprayed some graphics on my race car with a H of K candy green. Pretty cool stuff.)

If whomever cuts these Carrera logos cuts them out of a transparent or even a translucent 3-M film, It would allow the car's paint color to read through yet have enough of a difference in contrast to have the Carrera subtly read.
