Porsche PET is the internal parts CD-ROM that provides descriptions, part numbers and images for all Porsche models. You can't buy it (I don't think), but Porsche dealers, Porsche repair shops and some aftermarket companies can get hold of it. I work in the industry and thus have a copy. It is a lifesaver rather than trying to rely on the guy behind the parts counter at the dealer who can't differentiate a 911 from a 928. Any Porsche dealer can get you the sport wheel, all you have to do is provide them the part number and pay the price. Hopefully, they still have some stock in the country as when I got mine in May 2003 they only had a few. The dealer does not stock them, they are special order, but if there is supply at one of the Porsche parts warehouses (there is one here locally in Ontario, CA as well as Atlanta, GA) it only takes a day or two. They're not cheap but worth it. Ralph Last edited by Carrera3.5L; 08-11-2004 at 02:36 PM.. |

I just spoke to the local dealer, there are none in the US, only 9 in Germany and the price was $689, I think I will pass.

No apologies or credit needed I just thought it was funny! I love this board and I am sorry that I will not be that much a part of it anymore. Since my PCar was totaled - I am thinking of trying something else for awhile - Mercedes E430! I have to wait until my 96/97 993 becomes available to me.bS |

73911 -- go to the ebay link on the previous page, and call them. They had one in as of this morning, when they shipped it to me. Let us know what they say.

WOW! That is absolutely crazy! I realize the exchange rate with the Euro has gotten worse since I bought mine in May 2003, but $300 more??? It's almost twice as much. I think that those 9 will probably be staying in Germany, eh? Bummer for you guys that want one, but I sure am glad that I got mine when I did. I swallowed hard paying the $365, I wouldn't pay almost $700, that's for sure!!! Hopefully you guys can find them through other Porsche distribution channels. They really are nice and more classy looking than the repro wheels that others are selling. Try calling a couple of other dealers just for kicks. It doesn't make sense (much like airfare pricing), but dealer prices are NOT the same across the board. There is one dealer in Oregon (can't remember the name, Sunset?) who advertises in Excellence at dealer cost plus either 10% or 15% (can't remember which). That is probably the best price you will get from a Porsche dealer here in the US. Ralph |

Ralph,
You are correct on all accounts - I live in Portland and that's where I got mine. I just called Bob the parts manager - they are available for $380 and change, but the have to be brought in from Germany (like mine did). bS |

I got mine from Sunset. Paid $380.32 plus shipping. I ordered it July 20 and they shipped July 26.
It does have a matte finish. It must have shipped from a wharehouse in the U.S.

OK, this is getting confusing. Or I am just punchy from lack of sleep...
Neverless, can someone answer these questions? - What part # (w/hub) fits an 87. Black wheel - Is the wheel on eBay the same as the one from Sunset? - How about the AJ USA? Is the OEM or a replica? Make the madness stop!!!

Webini-
1) 000.043.161.00 and the color code is 8YR (black). 2) yes- EBAY wheel is the one sold by the dealer. 3) AJusa's wheel is a replica for $248 w/ hub and plain horn pad.(via Rennlist website) Hopes this stops your madness! |

Believe me, the factory tequipment wheel will make a huge difference, both aesthetically as well as the feel when driving the car. In this case, you cannot beat the factory quality that Porsche provided. I've had mine for over a year now and get asked quite frequently by other P-car owners where I got the wheel. Most are surprised that it came direct from Porsche! Throw the old 4-spoke in the garage and put it back on when selling the car. Enjoy Ralph |

FWIW, this is the real 930S wheel from Porsche Special Wish Program for early to mid 80's 911-930. Special thanks to GeorgeK

My wheel arrived today. AWESOME!!! This is the real deal. Came in a Porsche box and everything. IMO it's well worth the money over the reproduction. I love the pebble grain finish on the leather.

Jgordon,
I bought the AJ 930s wheel, thinking it was the real deal and GeorgeK set me straight. The REAL 930S 2nd generation wheel the only way to go for that style. When you put them side by side it's an amazing difference. Another wheel that has caught my eye is the fat rimmed 3 spoke standard Porsche wheel. I had Autos Intl. recover it and it's really nice. They seem to getting harder to come by these days. Regards, J.P.
