CIS - Hot idle problems

I've made 2 runs to Vegas with my 1982 SC. After the first drive to Vegas, I pulled off the freeway. The engine seemed like it wanted to stall. The RPMs would drop and it would try to recover. Most of the time it would catch itself and pull back to 800 or so RPMs. It seems to happen with engine breaking, stall occuring when I use the clutch.

It didn't happen on the way home last time (October). But it happened twice on the way home this time (Yesterday Dec 7th). 1st time was after 1 hour of driving. The car runs fine on the freeway.

I'm thinking something to do with either the advance/retard on the distributor or something to do with the CIS deceleration system.

Clues? Hints?

vapor lock? does it happen more often on a empty fuel tank? i think the fuel recycles back into the tank, therefore it dissipates heat there. i am sure smarter folks with jump in soon.
good luck

Nope, even after filling it seems to happen. But even a short cooling off seems to help.

Hmmm. Fuel pump?

Check the CIS Troubleshooting chart here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/technical_specs/911_cis_troubleshoot.htm.

I had a similar issue and found out I was way too rich.
