Megasquirt Tuner in Atlanta, GA

Hi,

Does anyone know of a tuner in the Atlanta, GA, area that is familiar with MS3 extra on a -6 cyl?

Thanks for any suggestions.

AAR reliability

Has anyone with Bitz EFI with the original Aux Air Regulator had any problems with this old bit of CIS still on the car? I admit I have a murky understanding of the inner workings of the AAR. Can they be rebuilt if they fail?

You could try the tune I sent as PM as a starting point for an engine with EDIS. Overview of the car's details are noted below. The car was running pretty well and startup was quite solid. That said, your use of this tune is purely at your risk, no guarantee expressed nor implied.

Have you loaded the default msq for the 3.0L that Bitz provides? I'll PM it to you -

BTW, When I installed my EFI I literally reached thru the drivers window and turned the key - to my surprise it started immediately (after 2 or 3 revolutions) and settled into a 900-1000rpm idle - this was the very first start on my new EFI - which looks remarkedly like yours.

Ive been adding a microsquirt to a 4cyl toyota as a side project and in all my reading using EDIS is old school and an added source of issues. All of the docs, and my install, just used the MS to drive GM LS coils and accept input from the crank sensor. Is EDIS necessary on a 911?

Some people forego the EDIS control unit and use the MS with quadspark to drive and EDIS coil pack. I went with the full EDIS as it was simpler to go that way. Those who got the MS controlled quadspark or similar do so to gain greater control over the timing elements.

@chrisP911 ... So what did your complete component EFI/EDIS setup cost to the nut and washer, just curious as would like to compare your costs vs going with a ITB's setup.

At long last I have a new engine bay wiring harness installed (thanks Timmy2!). Today I fired up the engine and the AFR is stuck at 7.4. Normally, I think it goes to 10 during warm up, and then to the 13s, and the numbers don't flash.

The green light on the Innovate in the engine bay flashes green, then is a steady green, so it's not throwing an error code. But, the AFR gauge continually flashes "7.4" for the entire minute or so I run the engine (until it dies from running too rich for it to idle properly).

Is there a way to disable the O2 Sensor ? I cannot find that menu or setting in Tuner Studio.

Are you trying to load the ECU with a different MSQ file?
If not, you should select "Use Controller Settings" otherwise it will overwrite the MegaSquirt with whatever you have in your TunerStudio.

Set the O2 Sensor to correct one (narrow band or wide band depending on what you have installed.
To disable O2, you should set the correction to 0%.

Just wanted to say this thread was started back in 2003, that was 20 years ago!!!

Hard to believe it's been that long. My 1978 911 is still running on the original CIS to EFI kit. There were concerns about reliability back then, but the MegaSquirt has proven itself.

I am just trying to get it to run on the most recent tune, which was either the Base tune or a tune I was using that Timmy created.

I will set the correction to 0% and see if the AFRs return to normal.

How awesome is that??? I've been thinking of going with one of your kits, but my Zenith's have so far refused to die! Soon, I'm sure!

See the attached image items with RED rectangle. First click "Settings" then "Constants" to get the window below.

First set the "EGO Sensor Type" to "Wide Band", since you are running an Innovate WBO2 sensor.

Second if you want to disable the O2 sensor, set the "EGO Limit(%)" to 0.

Then click "BURN" so the changes are flashed into the MegaSquirt. You will still be able to read AFR from the WBO2, but it won't make any corrections.

Save your MSQ file often if you are making changes so you can go back if something goes wrong.

Tony thank you-- I made the change and now Gamma Enrichment is coming down closer to 100 , rather than sitting at 150. Trying to see if the engine will run now, I am cautiously optimistic. For some reason, the AFR is still flashing 7.4

Check that you have the correct WBO2 output wire from the Innovate sensor hooked up to the MegaSquirt ECU.

Don't know how I never saw this thread before, but as an 8-year owner of a car with Tony's system on it I'm glad to have it as a reference now.
