Front cooler using stock valance?

Has anyone been successful at putting a cooler up front using a stock valance. I need to add a front cooler for my 78sc 3.2 and I saw this pic of this Carrera 3.0 a while back and it got me thinking.

Pics would be great if anyone has done this.

Thanks

I was able to contact the owner of the car above and got the following email from him. It appears it can be done but, cutting into the tub is required.

"Hi Craig,
I cut out the nose of the car and built a box out of thicker steel (2mm
thick) to give room for the airflow behind the cooler. This allowed me to leave the original spoiler in place. See pics! regards, George"

Craig,
Someone, I think GeorgeM, did a custom extended stock valance, putting it in line with the bumper in front, and splicing in pieces from the sides of another valance. The car is green.

You may want to concider what Jack Olsen has done-
Install two fender mounted oil coolers!.
I am not sure how he has done the plumbing but am sure he would give info if you PM him

Ingo did it to his 74 with 3.6 and it looks trick from the pics. Similar to the orange car at the top.

Here's a link:http://sswl.di.com/~ingo/oil_cooling.htm

Hmm, there is a small A/C condensor mounted flat (horizontal) just aft of the stock valance. Suppose an oil cooler were placed there, maybe with a scoop of some sort? Not ideal, certainly, but workable?

The most efficient means to gain cooling in the front is to add a later style oil cooler to the left side just like the right side in later Carrera's. If adding a center front cooler, you must provide an additional space for the air to flow through and then escape smoothly. I can't see how a stock bumper would allow enough space to make the unit efficient. We installed one on a late 80's 3.2 with a GT Racing bumper and splitter and installed 3 inch spacers to push the air cooler out as much as possible.
