A cool shot of Giampiero Moretti — one of my personal heros — thrashing his 935

Correct me if i am wrong, but as far as i know, the factory only built the 19 inch, 5 spoke cast magnesium wheel in two sizes, both for the rear; The 935/76 and 935/77 cars were delivered to customers with 19x15's, and the baby turbo ran 19x13.5 inchers

I have researched the part number '935 361 123 00' and am coming up blank.

BTW, The wheel has not been modified or welded in anyway, perfectly cast. It's quite stunning actually in it's rough, teutonic purposefulness, just like the 935...

With the wealth of knowledge found here, thought i might might strike paydirt.
Look at this pic, seems the real wheel does not have the deep dish like the wheel on the yager car. Maybe its just the angle of the photo or could this wheel be from porsche factory bodywork (diff offset) and the deeper dish wheel for K3 quarters?

Does anyone know which German company had this logo? Looks like 'KB'

I just read Michael Cotton's column in Pano. It was about the 961. He mentioned that at the Daytona 3 hours race it had to run in the GTP category and so was limited to 11 inch wide wheels, which proved disatrous with overheating and blowouts resulting from the small tires.

Does that help with the mystery at all?

That is so funny. I was quoting that 11 inch wheel post and writing a reply at the same time you were. Your post went through just before mine did.

Esto, i think it is the angle of the pix... the giveaway is the spoke, which is definately further away from from the edge of outer rim than the wheel i have.

This shot shows the 19x15 wheel on Canepa's 935... definately takes 19x15 (14.75 inches actually) to fill out that arch on a 935/77

Max, i thought about the 961 too, but to my knowledge the 961 never ran this style of centerlock. They ran one with a smaller central hubs, and regardless, i have never seen a wheel fan on the 961.

Whatever the hell this wheel was run on (or for) it was some kind of prototype deal

In regards to the wheel, I believe it was found at the 12 HR of Sebring. I might be wrong, but that is what I remember hearing. Some college kids took it off a wrecked Porsche before the marshals could get to it. It was in the early 80s I believe too. Thus, it couldn't be off a 961, it's too early. Plus, why would a 961 run a wheel with a 935--- part number? Just curious.

Well, according to that story in Pano, any GTP car was limited to 11 inch wheels at that time. So if a 935 was running in GTP it would need 11 inch wheels. Did that ever happen? I was not around back then so forgive me for not knowing what class 935s were in.
