Carpet supplier needed HELP !!!!
Can anyone tell me whats out there available in decent quality for a 69-73 coupe ? I see many aftermarket manufacturers out there but want to get some opinions from someone with past experiance finding a nice set. I want the plush type(not perlon) although getting an answer from someone who used perlon is fine too. Im going to see what wayne has to offer right after this post. BTW I would like to stay in the $300.00 range if possible.

I have the AppBiz set in my car. There were no dramas with it at all.
If Pelican isn't selling it yet, I believe there are plans to do so. In the meantime, appbiz.com .

I bought AppBiz plush carpet (and RS door panels) and was impressed with both. I bought via Ebay which in my case was slightly cheaper than his list prices, but only by about $20/item. This was the first carpet kit I've bought, so I may not be the most discerning customer, but I was impressed with the quality and the binding of the edges, etc.

Hey Kurt,
If you can get in touch with Robert before tomorrow morning, then I'm certain he will be able to help you get your carpet as soon as possible. If not, then call me tomorrow after 9AM PST. I'll get a carpet set out to you as quickly as I can... either Appbiz or Autos International. 888-280-7799 x260

Can both of you who have that kit post some pics. I can't decide between the plush and the perlon. The stuff from appbiz is supposed to be pretty nice, but I need to see it.
-Britain This is my car as of last night when I stripped the interior out completely. ![]() ![]()

We have cemented our deal with Pelican Parts, they will be stocking most of our items for immediate shipment. The PP staff is currently working on adding our products to the site but it will take some time. For the time being please contact Eugene at Pelican, he will be able to give you pricing and part numbers and answer basic questions
Thank you all for your kind words and past patronage Bob Applied Buusiness Concepts |

I've seen that most sets are either black or tan. Anyone (appbiz?) do a set in the charcoal grey?

I got the Perlon kit for my '73E.
Appbiz products are outstanding primarily because Bob monitors user satisfaction and instructs shops on installations. It's obvious he cares about the Porsche market. I was very happy with the kit I got from him. Be aware, the RS kit has a 14-page installation manual. This is not a task for everybody.

I have to admit that I've never been satisfied with any of my inquires for carpet. I need tan and I know the OEM is NLA, so close is as good as I'm gonna find. A local, well known German hot rod shop (I'm not mentioning any names because, after all, this is a parts site) sent me samples of two choices and one seams to have the correct color, at least. The other looked to be a superior quality material, but the tan was a little grayer than I'd like. More like a champaign. Not bad, just not my 1st choice. I'm waiting for a price from them. I didn't see what I was looking for on Pelican, but I may have to revisit.
I've been looking for 2 months and it's the tan that is difficult. If you want black, there are many suppiers of velour, domestic, perlon, square weave and so on. To be original, you need to know what came in your car. My Targa had velour and it's expensive, like around $700. Anything else with have a shorter nap which may not be a bad thing; easier to maintain. This carpet thing is not easy. But I can tell you that loop style generic carpet is not anything like the OEM carpets I've seen. And that's the less expensive option. Then there is a felt type which is just a basic floor covering offering very little in luxury, but very functional. The real thin felt is what is used in the trunk, if you want to get a feel for that. What is sorely needed is a very graphic desription of all the carpets and how they were used. It took me a long time to know that square weave was 356 carpet. No one says that specifically. MikeZ had to tell me. Once he told me that, I knew exactly what it was. As I said, this carpet thing can be very confusing. |
