Broken door trigger/spring mechanism
The trigger on my 70 911E is stuck in, so I always have to open the door from the inside. I tore the door apart, and look what I found in the bottom of the door!
![]() ![]() Do I need to replace the entire external handle mechanism, or is this not part of the door handle? Anybody got an exploded parts diagram for the door handle? thanks, Britt |

Yeah this is part of the trigger mechanism. Unfortunately it is made out of pot metal and you can't weld in back on. You will be able to see where it broke off from the trigger mechanism. On my old 72E I just used some electric tape and tightly taped it back into place. Was still working when I sold the car.

you can get a used handle pretty easy. they are going for $75.
onewhippedpuppy, got one from easy porsche salvage in emeryville, CA. if your handles are chrome, it gets slightly tougher.

Just happens I think I have a chrome handle, but not sure what side of the car it is for. It is in excellent shape if you want to buy it.

Yeah, that's exactly what I found when I opened up my door panel, there's no fixing that. I actually didn't get mine from EASY, Cliff gave me the number and the price ($75), but in the meantime I found one from a fellow Pelican, I paid a little less, I can't remember offhand though. Mine was chrome, seemed to be a little more rare. If you look at the price for a new one, $75 will seem cheap.

The body of the handle is universal. You just have to flip the lock cylinder & actuator lever 180 degrees. Good time to get both sides rechromed & new rubber (while you're in there). Mine cost $70 to get both rechromed.

Anybody got a parts diagram for the door panel, I never got the panel off, and could never find the screws that were still holding it on...
thanks, Britt |
