Audio Guru's advice please

Hi Guys,

I have a 72 911 E and I'm contemplating "deleting" my minidisc player, i.e. moving it into the glove box and having a nice clutter free dash.

This is simple enough, but my real question is I'd like to "delete" the speakers from the front doors and either mount them somewhere you can't see them or fashion some sort of removeable speaker box/boxes. I do not want to cut holes in any other panels or mount speakers on the rear deck.

Has anyone done this? Does anyone have any suggestions?

The speakers are run of the mill 16.5cm diameter Alpine's.

The best setup (IMHO) would be to buy/fabricate a pair of pods to mount the speakers down on the kickpanels. Aim them slightly in and up. Most any car audio shop can make you a pair out of fiberglass covered with carpet to match your vehicle. If you've got black carpet, they'll hardly be noticeable. As a bonus, you'll get better imaging than if they were mounted in the doors.

Here's another option.

They've got a terrible web site, unfortunately. But it's an ABS piece that goes under your dash, covering up wires and hoses, and also making room for two speakers.

thanks Jack, that looks like an interesting product, I'll mail them and find out some more. Do you have any experience with the under dash speakers?
