Question Socket-size for SC rear axle stub nut

The nut on the rear axle is M20 thread. What is the socket size? Also, some SC's have a much longer cover for the rear torsion bar. Why are there short and long ones? What is the difference? The Bentley, pages 420.... show a much longer cap than I have. Mistery. Thanks anyone?

30mm if you mean the "Ihadtostandonthebreakerbarextensiontobreakitloose" nut. I used a Lisle GM socket. Don't know the other, but this'll bump it.

Have fun with the nut. Twisted off my 1/2" with 9 foot extension like cheese. The Harbor Freight 3/4" drive ($20) did the trick, it was amazing how easy it came off.

Thanks, no substitute. Ga_Mueller: Is the socket size 30 mm the same on a Carrera? Or did you use standard?

The socket size on my Carrera is 32mm. A no-name 3/4" drive socket with a 4" extension worked fine. And a 9ft steel pipe....
