To put the engine back in - guys on the sides can help balance, a guy behind it can "ride" it like a giant heavy (um, male sex organ) to push it into the hole in the feminine trans tunnel body of the car -- if you're good right into the coupler. Raise a bit and put in engine mount bolts several threads in, then do th trans support bar bolts. Then torque everything. Check the rubber to be sure it where it should be. Connect all the ball & socket things.

When the engine is close you can lay wires, hoses, heater hoses about where they shold be.

You can always powder coat some of the engine parts, that looks old or tarnished.

My brother is familiar with powder coating porsche parts, he actually manufactures some early 911 parts.

My brother owns a powder coating company, you can give them a call.

To keep it simple and not out of hand just have the fan powder coated.

color match to your car or choose from hundreds of different colors.

just a thought.

When you cut the plywood, cut it to the shape of the bottom of the engine and tranny. Kind of like a fat T

Hi guys, I live in Fairfield and work in Concord. I am new to the Porsche world. I wanted to try out a sports car and figured Porsche would be the one. I just bought a 78 911 SC in really good shape for its age. I am looking for a mechanic in the area to look at my A/C. I also hear I need to upgrade the chain tensioner. I am wondering how much work is involved with that and which tensioner to get. Are you guys members of any Porsche clubs in the area ? This car is stock and I would like to juice it up a little and am wondering what upgrades give the most bang for my buck. This site is great. I know I can get most of the questions answered by hunting around but figured I'd try the easy way first.

thanks
