3.2 msd install
I've gone through 50+ posts in the search, and I can't find the information I'm looking for. I understand people don't think it'll help out much, but I like to try things firsthand and formulate my own opinions. So, here's the question.
What wires do you use to control the MSD. I know that you have to splice into the DME relay wires, but which ones? I also plan on calling MSD's tech line and seeing what they have to say, and I'll post what I find and my opinions of the unit. If you're wondering about the car itself, it's a '73 with a 3.2 built to a 3.4, chip, SSI, mild cams (don't know which ones, bought it-not built it). This is my first Porsche, so far it's been awesome. |

Do you have the stock ignition? If so, I can't help... but I thin it uses a crank-fired trigger -- those are the round cylinders near the flywheel that I sold to somebody.

If you have a bumped chip and computer for the 3.2, the MSD is pretty much useless. In otherwords, it's not worth the hassle for the lack of gain. I've looked into it and the consensus is just this... Just some thoughts...
If you do do the MSD you'll most likely need a new custom chip mapped for the system. (I could be wrong on this one...)

If you are running the stock fuel injection (not carbs) the MSD is just extra weight. It solves a problem the stock ignition doesn't have.

I sucessfully installed MSD 6A to my 3.2 with motronic.
Its simple, and does not require the trigger wires. see post here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/313547-msd6al-carrera-3-2-engine.html#post2986189
