1.) 2.7
2.) might be seals, where are they not tight at?
3.) cloth interior is probably OE, plaid was an option, as was shetland, tweed, twill, and leather (vinyl is standard)

Home Again

Here's mine, in 2002 after a long road trip home from Wyoming, where she spent some time getting a new heart.

85 targa

I agree, targa's get a bad rap. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything. For a mostly stock 911, it handles great.

BTW, got my first order from pelican......sweet

I love targas too! An evening drive on a cool night with the top off is all you need to do to understand the attraction. I'll take the extra weight happily.

Here is a pic of my '80 Daily Driver in the driveway of my old office. That is my 460HP RX-7 track monster in the background.

Here's my 87-- bought the last summer and love it--
my daily driver that makes commutes around SoCal that much better-- ya, traffic sux during the week-- but weekend canyon runs and trips down the coast make up for it-- very pleased with the purchase!

Hey SpecCarrera,

Nice car! Love the color (seal grey?) and I love the fat Fuchs, very nice.

One thing, "They" say that a rear wing should be used in conjunction with a chin spoiler for stability at speed.

The chin spoilers look cool as well (IMHO) so maybe it should be on your wish list for future improvements.

Of course, if you are using your car for stop and go commuting it doesn't matter a lick - do whatever looks good to you!

Hey Danl,

Thanks-- ya, it looks sorta grey with some green thrown in-- is called Granite Green Metallic-- don't see allot of em in LA...
regarding the front spoiler, I read that as well... just did the clutch/update, so working on that balance first, but the chin spoiler is on it's way soon-- I haven't tracked it yet with POC, but since the car is fairly low, I haven't run into much problems at freeway speeds... Targa style really grew on me-- the best of both worlds.

As Wayne says in his book "your car won't suddenly flip upside down without the front spoiler". I'm sure most of us regular people don't need any spoilers at all but it is reassuring that if you do "push it" on a public road your car won't do something unexpected at 120mph.

With no spoilers, my car feels quite stable at 100mph, I think if I were to dial up the recklessness I would take some more precautions. At a high speed track (100mph+ corners) I think they would be an important requirement.

I've driven a 1986 Cabrio (no spoilers- top up) on the autobahn at 255km/hr and it was fine... functional downforce would have helped rear traction and steering response a bit I suppose, but wasn't a bigge..

Flippin over w/o front spoiler... that's a good one!

Off-topic:

When I added a Sti rear wing (trunk transplant) to my WRX,
I did notice the difference- 20lbs of downforce @80mph-- looked cool too--- was a great Rally-X car!

It seems cornering at the limit, at high speeds would be the situation that is helped by spoilers. Having the back end lighten up in a fast corner sounds bad....

Other track guys on this BBS have assured me that spoilers are unnecessary for a recreational track day or two per year.

Danno- agree, keeping airflow from getting underneath the car (lift) is optimal, and downforce in a rear engine car keeps the contact patches happier on the track at speed--

Found a good deal on an oem front spoiler, so it's in the works... cool!

OK I tried to resist but I'll bite..

I have a 1988 930 Targa which I consider the ultimate Targa being a factory turbo and all.

Only 500 made and this one is black with linen leather sport seats.
