I love my Targa!

Updates, backdates, mods, and road trips are detailed in my Pelican Garage.

Yes, lowering the car is on the short list!

That actually looks higher than US Spec! I hope that is a really short list....

Since some people have stated their preference on the tail, I will throw mine in as a preference with a tail. I think without it, the back of the car looks a little "glass heavy" with the rear window stealing your attention, so the wale tale takes the stage and transfers your eye to her beautiful back!

In any case, I love them either way and love my Targa (pic posted several pages ago). The problem is I thought I would use this car as a place to park my money while the stock market was going crazy, but now it's love and I won't be able to do what Sting (from the Police) said in his song about loving something and setting it free!

It's hopeless. I'm keeping the Targa. Keep the pics coming so I can dream of Spring!

I <3 my big ostentatious tail I believe that people are as polar about the tail as they are about Targas vs Coupes (in the style dept.) IMHO the butt of the targa falls away and looks "droopy" without that prominent feature....but everyone is different.

Favorite quote from a friend of my wifes "Is that thing
supposed to be on the back of your car?"

72ish

I thought I was already in this one but did a search and noticed I wasn't. Perhaps I was waiting for the paint job. Here is my 72 with new paint in 2010.

I agree, although to me Targas looked more "thin" than "droopy", in the rear, but the wider SC/3.2 Carrera flares and wider tires helped at least as much as the tail to give a more "full" look, and yes, my SC has a 3.2 Carrera tail, but by previous owner, I like the tail on a more radical-looking car but can do without it

EF Hughes the 3rd,

Everyone loves to hear your negative comments about thier car. I suggest you do it in person too, it's every funnier then. Maybe you can practice at the next car show or track event you attend.

Since you didn't figure it out on your own, I'll tell you that the ride height is stock but the tires are a much lower profile than stock.

I don't like the current tire/fender gap either. But since you referrenced lowering it on my short list you knew that and decided to dog me anyway.

Are those large, black, 15 lb bumperettes on the back of your "Track Targa" so the other cars on the track can push you when you slow them down?

Sincerely,

Bob

Targa

Doug&Julie,
thanks, had to search for some shots as the car is currently hibernating. I found these. It is a work in process still but I'm getting there.

Love the "duck"....put me on the clean or duck list. IMHO, when on a coupe the whale looks good, on a Targa, the whale is too much. Cheers

Have to agree. Even the size of US Carrera bumper pads are diminished somewhat by the tail! I do really like ducktails on Targas, especially the red ones! I was out again yesterday, sunshine in the PNW! Hazy/foggy day iPhone picture from last year:

Celebrate your unique color

Charles,

Love the car and the color! Don't you dare paint that red! What year is it?

Well, I guess I insulted your family and mother with this, based on your reply. It isn't like any US spec height car never gets a little ribbing here. Seems to me, you brought it up.

Since my Targa does get driven on the street, the functional pads may be needed some day to afford a little more protection to my car. The car has lost 50lbs of A/C and Carrera tail, along with another 150 or so along the way, so I figured I'd indulge myself with them.

Maybe those beautiful bumper plugs you have on yours aren't heavy enough to weigh your back end down? But I guess you were all about the "show" and not so much the "go".

Ruby has both:
