Thanks for the reply, glad to know someone is paying attention.

I've been side tracked by work. I still need to get the hoses and fittings put together. I hope to have the hoses by the weekend. I post picts as soon as I get alittle further. Hope to also post some results soon.

And the saga continues. Still buried at work so I'm still not done, by the time I finish this it will be summer again.

I routed the discharge hose along the deck release cable guide and down near the torsion tube as shown in the third picture. I did this for two reasons easy and to accommodate the next project.

BTW, I'm looking for a front condenser if anyone has one.

Looks Great!

I've ordered the mondo fan for my 930 condenser and I've got my pro-cooler. I need to make up a template for the sheet metal shroud for the condenser. It'll be spring by the time I can test the A/C but I have high hopes that the mondo fan, the pro-cooler, and the added center vent will do the job for me.

Bill, any progress with the rear fender condensor install? I was wondering what size lines and fittings you used and who swaged them for you.

I picked up a 964 condenser on Ebay and need to figure out what size fittings are used on my 82SC. Probably just run the new condensor between the front factory one and the receiver drier. Looking at going with a procooler and griffiths evaporator. Actually I'm dreading talking to Charlie about only buying the evaporator and not spending 4500 bucks on a complete system. From what I have read the 964 condensor with a fan is a pretty good solution to the 911's lack of condensor area. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Chuck

Does anyone here know how much he wants for his evaporator? It would be for an 82SC

I think it is like $500.

Keep in mind that, unlike your dad, his motives are to maximize his profit, and possibly get your system working. The guys on this list are your unbiased source.

Also, since the system constraints are on the heat rejection side, the evaporator is probably a less important place to make an improvement. A big honkin' fan on the condenser is my next step, along with a pro-cooler to increase system efficiency, all currently in process (bought the stuff, need to find time to install).

Glad to see this thread continuing. Need to get something lined up for my car and the next 8 months will give me time to let you guys debug things. I have a performance aire underbody condensor but its not on the car just yet and looking for other options.

Joe:

I think I've sourced a condenser that will fit in front of the rear left wheel. I'm considering adding it to my system over the winter/spring months, so that I'll have the two stock condensers, a front left fender fan/condenser, the new rear left fender fan/condenser, and a ProCooler. If that doesn't keep me cold in a system running R12, then nothing will!

Bill:

I'll try to find the picture tonight when I get home. IIRC, it's pretty compact, and has three rows of tubes. My plan is to try to fab a bracket off the torsion bar bolts, and then plumb the new condenser in series with the other condensers. I'll use the electrical line to the compressor as a trigger for a relay that will power the fan. I'm not sure yet where I'll grab the power for the fan. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Scott,

Makes me want to get together with you even more the next time we make it to Cali. Are you going to A/C the Bell?

niner11:

The fittings on the 964 condenser are either #6 or #8, I'll guess #6 but be sure to check. The fittings on the front condenser are #6, rear condenser #10 and dryer #6. Use a #6 hose from the front condenser to the 964 condenser and #6 hose to the dryer. Any A/C shop will be able to supply Barrier Hose, fittings and do the crimping. Dry fit the hose, condenser and fittings before crimping them on.

On evaporator, do the condenser mod first. If you go for the evap, I found another source that sells Griffiths products without the hassle, the evap is ~ $300.00. Also install a new expansion valve and dryer and do the usual clean up of the smugglers box.

Let me see what did I forget??

BTW, I haven't finished the rear condenser project yet, side tracked by things like work and house remodeling. I guess I need to reevaluate my priorities.

Bill, thanks for the update. I took the plunge and bought a procooler yesterday. After reading info on their site I realized that it is not just a big reciever drier but a possible solution to a problem that is specific to the 911. Lack of condensor area. If anyone is interested their site has a schematic showing exactly how it works.

My goal is a/c that will work in Atlanta traffic in July. The final piece of the puzzle may be a griffiths evap but I have not heard much about anybody buying one. Well, anybody that has spent less than 3000.00 dollars. Chuck
