I had a great time today, thanks to everyone that came out, you all made it fun for me. Great seeing some familiar faces and meeting new ones. Unfortunately, I didn't make any of the pix posted, I was hanging back with Howard waiting for the gas run. Apologies to everyone that got stuck behind my smoke... oil change yesterday and too much oil=oops!!! Can't wait to see Max's Pix, I should atleast be in one of those.

ahh, so that's the explanation. Unfortunately I was on your tail during the first part of the drive. When you guys zigged on Mulholland I zagged on Encinal and got some fresh air

Yeah I blew most of it out on the run, had to take 2 quarts out yesterday after the change. I tell ya a 3.6, 2 oil coolers and about 30 feet of oil line find weird ways of hiding oil in the system, add to the fact that it's a '72 which don't have the most accurate dipstick readings, make it easy to overfill.

I don't think that had a hand in my copilot feeling off (I did too). That was courtesy of Yerba Buena. I flogged it damn hard up to the summit, and that was enough to leave us both a bit green around the gills.

So class, today we learned:
Don't trust non stock fuel gauge sending units
Yerba Buena is Looooooooong
Tommy's is the place for breakfast with its outdoor seating area

And real friends 1] drive down the hill to buy a gas can, 2] keep you company while you wait, and 3] wait out in the middle of nowhere to take your picture.

Thanks Guys!

I could never agree more. I though I was lost on Yerba Buena. I think I missed a turnoff somewhere because we ended up taking Mulholland back to the 101 to meet you at Tommys. One more thing to add for Targa owners, remember to put your sunscreen on because I have sunburns that outline my sunglasses right about now.

Todd, what happened to you and Philip. I didn't see you guys at Tommys. Did you break after Neptune's Net?

My copilot was getting cranky sitting around, so Philip, Kevin and I headed out from Neptune's before Howard got there. Once we got to feeling green I cruised down and Howard caught up (when I was trying to figure if going on Westlake was the right way. Then Philip came back the other direction. I got to Tommys, but neither Calvin nor I was up to eating, so we headed onto the freeway and back home.

Yeah, maybe I should have mentioned just how tight and twisty Yerba Buena is. I've never taken it downhill -- which would be scary. It reaches the highest point in LA county, I'm pretty sure. Nice views.

It also changes its name right before it empties onto Mulholland. I think the change comes where it crosses from Ventura County back into Los Angeles County.

Sounds like I missed a fun run, unfortunately.

When's the next one?

Max,

Thanks for the awesome photos. I looked back twice when I saw someone with a camera then I heard from the guys that you were taking pix.

Max, Great pix, thanks for doing it, we all appreciate it. Did you happen to capture the red 360 and the Silver GT-3 that passed by?

All in all, I ran the route and showed up late - it was a blast and Yerba Bueane was a lot of fun - I don't know that I went very fast (don't like blind turns with bicyclists around) but it was fun.

I really need to finish polishing my wheels...
