I believe they require 17" or bigger wheels. The GTP's alteast, not sure about GTP Lights, I haven't heard of those ones.

We are aware of the Brembo GTP Light kits, these are a great off the shelf package if the compromises they require are within the scope of your project.

They do require 16" wheels and those 16" wheels have to be 944 Turbo offset for the front.

Our design brief included eliminating both those requirements.

It would be nice if Brembo would look at a slightly smaller package too allowing for standard 911 offset 15's and 16's.

In my opinion they should sell them cheaper - without pads, that way you are not paying for a set of pads that might not suit your application.

The $4400 we predict is for the same config, calipers, rotors, hats, lines, but no pads.

Of course, no wheels, no tires, no wheel studs, no wheel spacers, no accompanying labor, etc, tallying more than the $1000 difference - plus 15" wheel lovers get to keep the 15" look .

The GTP kits aren't perfect either, in addition to the 17" wheel requirement they use rather large pistons, even w/ a 23mm m/c the pedal will feel softish.

My kit runs just under $2000. Complete bolt on boxster calipers front and rear, pads, and adapters, fits stock 15" rims without any spacers.

Our goal is not to discredit anyone who has made the effort to bring together any kit at any price for these cars.

I am going to assume that your kit uses standard Carrera rotors ?, another of the factors that was marked as an avoidable compromise by our brief.

At Windrush we look to always enter unoccupied market sectors, if you consider what our kit achieves you will determine that a set of modified 930 calipers on '78 /'79 930 front rotors and stock 930 rear rotors is the closest near miss, along with some residual issues including availability and their vintage technical specification.

I am certain there is room for a sub $2K 911 brake kit, as I see there are several available.

Is WEVO using a caliper of it's own design in their brake kits?

I think I have seen a front strut top insert, or replacement piece that you can install after removing all the rubber, not sure of the compound or the vendor but I am sure it would be some kind of molded elastomer.

Yes, the brakes calipers are an in-house design.

I dont think your missing anything, the number of 15" wheel users is definitely small, I think we have more exposure to it on the west coast with number of street going early hot rod cars too.

However small the number, this kit would have it covered, although there is nothing to stop you putting larger wheels over them too if you choose.

One of the fastest PCA GT4 cars in the counrty is running brakes that fit under 15"wheels - despite running 17 & 18 wheels

Actually the 15 x 6, 7, 8 and 16 x 6, 7, 911 wheels all have the same interfering feature controlling the packaging, so I think our kit would be the only one that you can fit a stock 911 offset, 16 x 7 over, without wheel spacers.

So the 1970s 911 turbo caliper four-piece design is the only one that can fit under a 15" Fuchs? I guess it does appear to hug the rotor more closely than modern designs. Is it really as rigid, though?

There are so many companies that make low profile calipers nowadays: Hi-spec fits a 280mm rotor and 4-pot caliper under a 13" Caterham rim for example.

Still, you have to appreciate the retro syle, if that's your priority and you're willing to pay for it.

Hayden, That makes sense. I currently run the 930 calipers and everyone knows how much they cost now. Rebuilding them is another story. Are you machining them from billet? Best of luck with them, I know how hard it is to get things off the ground, I'm currently in the same position as far as my products go.

I'm curious if the numerous pre 89 911 brake kits, presently on the market, would pass T.U.V. requirements. German agencies frown on adaptors and caliper modifications.
I haven't seen the WEVO prototype, but from what I'm understanding, it's more of specific system design , than an adaptation.

I hope you didn't already answer this, Hayden, but what were the main factors that motivated you to produce an in-house caliper versus using something like an AP? are the bigger calipers really appropriate for bigger wheels only? I do understand that the shape of a caliper, particularly a large one that curves, is tailored to a particular disc diameter.
