Dynamat in Engine Compartment

Has anyone used Dynamat in the engine compartment
in place of the foam pad the factory uses ?
I am looking for a way to clean up the engine compartment
and the sound pad is an eyesore. What about the
foil and felt pad that Performance and MidAmerica sells ?

How well does it work... how does it look ?
Do the ends fold down like the factory foam pad ?
Do you think you have more room in the engine compartment ?
Can you tell a difference in the sound inside the car ?

I've used a lot of Dynomat in various places, so maybe I'm not the best example.

My act was to kill the tin can sound thus making the exhaust sound and audio much nicer.

There is also a very good Dynamat style lining called B-Quiet that's cheaper. Randy Webb has posted good audio sound deadner info fyi. Maybe search Randy's name and audio, Dynamat, etc.

My interest was in using the lightest wt. sound "deadener" - BUT not for the engine pads as shown above. I just used a new stock pad. It's light, already cut to fit, and obviously works. I don't see anything wrong with the alternatives above. Radiant heat will be reflected back onto the engine (until the shiny color is ocved with soot, dirt, grease, etc.) but I doubt this is significant. It's an experiment tho - and doesn't seem to have any adv. or save any $$ over the stock pad. Note - the ones sold now are lighter and more ong lasting thatn the ones that came on 1970's 911s.
