Part source for early (1969) 911 Bosch CDI box?
I'm looking for availability of Bosch (rebuilt) early 1969 911 E, CDI box.
My first choice was Pelican, but only MSD and Permatune are listed, and furthermore on of my catalogs had the dreaded NLA for my year 1969. ![]() Thanks

Also, any 3-pin Bosch box will fit your car. These were used until 77.
If you search the archives there are a few sources that can rebuild one if you find a dead one.

Not true! Pelican has many parts, and sources for them, not listed on the web site. You need to call and ASK! Talk to Tom Gould at Pelican. What's happen to phone calls and one-on-one discussions/questions? Email & the internet have caused many to forget that they still have a phone.

OK I called both Pelican and Stoddards. Neither carry Boch CDI boxes, as I undersatand you send your unit in to repair, and then Pelican sends it back. However, since my box is a Permatune, it matters little. So the alternatives:
1. Take the unit out and the coil and clean everything best I can. 2. Examine the unit outside. 3. Examine the unit inside, and take a picture and post here online. 4. Maybe purchase one of the epoxy Blaster coils that Warren recommends, and the then reinstall everything back, including the old unit, and see if it works. 5. If the above fails, then try MSD with Joe's diagrams on Pelican in the search function. 6. Last.....a question.....can the alternator have any effect on no spark at all? Thanks

So find a core or pay a core charge. You should be able to find MANY 3 pin Bosch cores. The 6 pin ones are the difficult ones.

I pulled the box this evening, and it definitely is a "blue" box Permatune, so from Warren's comments on another thread, I'm first going to see about keeping this one. Thanks for informing of possible options.
Current diagnostics ('bench test") are on the other thread. Right now I'm questioning the coil.

H.G.P.
I have a core 3 pin CDI box from many years ago that may or may not be rebuildable, but I'll send it to you free. If you want it, PM me your address and I'll ship it off to you. Tim

Since you'll have a Bosch core, Pelican Parts should easily be able to supply
you a rebuilt Bosch unit. If you have the original Porsche coil (the small one), you'll not need another coil. The original coil is very reliable.
