Looks like a nice car for a nice price.

so did the 4-spoke wheel start in '85? I thought it was a "Carrera thang"...

I think it did because my Targa was one of the last 84s made and it has the 3 spoke wheel.

Great looking car. Welcome to the 'support' group. Hello, my name is Bob and I've been a P-car head for 30 years, and a heavy user for 5 years. It's an expensive addiction, but a real rush! Enjoy your new baby.

Oh, and one other thing you need to know now that you are one of us.

I too have a low miles 80s car. Although the 911 is very reliable, things still need to be serviced and fixed as our cars are approaching 20 years old.

I just got my car back from a complete service which included new shocks, fixing broken switches, a complete engine work up with all fluids and rubber belts replaced, repacking the front wheel bearings, rebuilding the rear CV joints, valve adjustment, trunk and hood shock replacement, rebuilding and converting the AC, fixing the speedo-odo, new brake rotors and pads, blah, blah, blay.

Bill was over $4,000.

Over 22 hours of work by a master Porsche mechanic, and over $2500 in parts.

Yeah, I knew going in that maintenance on these cars can be pretty expensive. I really want to learn how to work on them myself, but my wife and I have money budgeted in for the car each year...took the car out this morning for a little run...all I can say is WOW!! So much fun to drive these things. Now if only I can find a good twisty road around here with no cops...

As 84Porsche says it started in '85 along with the windshield antenna.

BTW, beautiful car for the money...and one of my favorite colors as well.

Great car at a great price! Love that color.

Where to you live? I noticed you bought the car here in Austin. If your local, you are welcome on our Fun Runs. Always looking for additional drivers. Stop by sometime, I would love to see it in person.

I've got a great answer for you. Take your car to a driver's education event with POC or PCA. You will meet other addicts... I mean owners and have a great time. The race track is a lot like the curvy road you want and there are no speed limits. It's also MUCH safer than trying to find out what your car can do on the street. You will learn a lot about what you and your car are capable of doing. IT's awesome fun......

Congrats on your car. It looks nice and sounds like you got a good deal on it as well.
