930 - Anybody using a Magnaflow 1 in 2 out?
I ordered a Magnaflow 3" single in with 2 1/2" dual out. Muffler looked awsome -- until I looked inside. What a strange arrangement! The 3" single top inlet blows directly into a 180* diverter that sends 1/2 of the exhaust flow through a well designed muffler and the other 1/2 exits into the atmosphere immediately from the outlet directly beneath the inlet!!!!
How can this work? This looks like a rediculous design. I simply don't get it. Makes no sense. How loud is it? What are your impressions?

I have a dual in/out in my SC. Loud, very loud, but because you have a turbo it will probably sound much different than my car.

It does sound odd. But the muffler might sound quite good. I have a straight through magnaflow dumping out the passenger side, and it has a great tone but is actually a tad quieter than I would say is ideal (to my taste.) The non muffled outlet might give it a meaner growl than mine. I'm wondering, though, what your plan was for those two outlets on the pass side. One would go nicely out the passenger side of the valance, but you would have a tough routing the other outlet back to the drivers side neatly and without being seen from behind the car.

I wish I had a picture for you. The muffler has 1 inlet on the top drivers side and 2 outlets, one on the bottom drivers side and one on the bottom passengers side. It looks identical to the 2-in 2-out design that the N/A cars use except it only has an inlet on one side instead of both. This should be ideal for a turbo.
This muffler is just plain odd. The 3" inlet is on the top left hand end. Directly below the inlet is the left side 2 1/2" outlet. There is no muffling whatsoever beween the inlet and left side outlet. Yet there is a very nicely designed muffled path for the right side outlet. I wish I had a picture. Their web site doesn't show the innerds. The dual-in dual-out design for the N/A cars has a nice mixing chamber where the dual inlets divert to the dual outlets. Everything is muffled in a psuedo straight through fashion. The mixing chamber on this muffler is shifted over on the left side, right at the inlet/outlet.

I have a 1 in 2 out, sounds awesome. Mine is N/A though. So far the best upgrade ive done, just ask some of the other pelicanites that i went on runs with. Im kind of interested on how the turbo setup would sound. I bet it sounds great. Well anyway heres my setup.
![]() Its not that great of an angle, its late and its the only picture i have on hand. I might take more pictures of it in the morning. Im also getting my new tires in the morning.

Do you mean like this? Its for a Camaro. I thought about using it, but it only comes in 2.5" outlets and thought that would be too small. Let me know how it works for you. What do you plan to use for tips?

That is the picture as seen on the Magnaflow website.
When you click on it for details it shows a different picture, one with a single inlet on one side and dual outlets on the other. To me the design of the muffler I saw looked like the different picture, only they had replaced one of the outlets with a 3" pipe and called it an inlet. Exhaust pipes? I plan to use the same type I have now, Auto zone specials. They work perfect and fit perfect plus you can't beat the price and no welding is required. What I'm thinking now is I'll order a dual-in dual-out and cap off one of the ins. The internal design of that configuration is pretty good for this application.

Might want to take a look at the Flowmaster Series 80. This is also designed for the Camaro. I was confusing it with the Magnaflow one your were talking about. I didn't think the internals were like you described. The Flowmaster looks pretty good in the cutaway.

I checked out the flowmaster first. The internal design being multi-baffled is not optimal for a turbo. They need a straight through design or as close as you can get. The flowmaster is a really good candidate otherwise.
