Aussie Track Day (pics)

Here's some "very me" orientated photos of yesterdays trackday at Queensland Raceway in Australia. All photo credits go to Pelican Steve Foss who also lurks on this board.

A lot of the cars tend to be the later GT3 etc... so I've stuck to the older "cooler" cars in these photos

I had a bit of freak spin caused when my camber bolts let go and the rear left popped from -3 to +1 degrees mid-corner. The result was a high speed spin and damage to my tyre as it rubbed on the guard!

And I'm pleased to say the engine I built recently passed it's first trackday really well!

Can't wait to get some Elephant Racing polybronze rear bushes and 27mm rear torsion bars as my rear is definitely too soft

Cheers

Geez SteveF_911 you should have been there...

Yeah guys it's always good fun out there... we have some really talented and very quick guys and gals in the club. As Steve notes, it was really hot yesterday with around 35 0C (someone will have to calculate what that is in F) making it a little uncomfortable in and out of the car!

I should also note that the RS is real and being driven as it was meant!

Now I'm really p*ssed that I decided not to do Saturday's run!

Your car looks great John, I hope you didn't do too much damage to the guard. What sort of times did you do?

Also are you going to head up to Morgan park in March? I'll definitely be there this time.

By the way, great photo's too Fossy!

Nah Victor, just similar helmets and goatees

A few people have enquired about the intake pods... http://www.unifilter.com.au/

Good news is that there was more smoke than heat and my guard polished out. The tyre will have to be checked out though.

Hi Dave

Currently rear SC (24mm), but I have 27mm on the way. Fronts are the original 19mm.

I currently have 26s in the rear and 19mm up front. Tyson like this combination, although I am in flux about 22/28s - I have those waiting as well.

How much does your car weigh? I suspect my '74 with a 3.0 is a bit heavier than your car. Nonetheless, I don't experience any "sag" while on the track. Of course, I may not be pushing my car as hard as you push your car.

It's 2190 lb with spare tyre, tools and full tank of gas. I currently get a lot of sag/squat in 1, 2, and 3rd gear.
