Yeah, I like the targa in a wide body...both long hoods and impact bumpers. They look just a little extra muscular than the wide body coupes for some reason.

I'm sorry I don't know more about it! I took that (first) picture at the '03 Taj Maj Garaj car show. I thought it was pretty unique. But I didn't see the owner around to discuss. But it was a well done conversion, so I shot it. The second pic is from our PCA region's webmaster at the same show.

That particular car has the "wide body" treatment, but any backdating from impact bumper to <73 look is real easy except for the front trunk catch. The entire tub is different, people either use those little rubber hold-downs, or improvise a different catch somehow on the hood or the tub.
TRE Motorsports in North Hollywood has done a few of these, they could provide more accurate info I'm sure. Everything besides that trunk catch is a piece of cake, as long as you aren't a stickler about the interior being right, etc... ![]()

I'm another Targa owner going to chime in. The driving experience is more sensory. An 80 degree day and a twisty road and it all comes together in the Targa experience.
But the only way to put your mind at ease it to drive both.

Okay, I'm convinced. Now, what is a fair price for a Carrera targa with 100,000 miles, good condition? What is the price range?

But there are lots of variables, like is it primo original paint, how well maintained...yada yada. When I was shopping private parties last year I couldn't find a top shape g50 with ~95k miles for less than 20k. s5uewf : Sounds like you stole it if it's in great shape.

Paid $6K for my 77 - a few very small rusts spots but it does have new seats, new top, new tires, some engine / trans work, never leaks and has 93K on her. I guess it was a pretty good deal?

yes, if no major engine/trans work was needed. That said, SCs definitely carry a premium over 74-77 cars. Where are the rust spots?

a couple pea size near the gas lid, a few very small ones near the rear window seal and one about the size of a nickel on the reak left fender. I plan on stripping her down, bead blasting her and then bringing her back up. I really got it as a project car but have too much fun zipping around in it to do anything major yet. Damit man, I just don't want to be without her!

I understand! Too much fun to work on is a good thing. I was trying to understand if any corrosion was from accident damage since most people think the 77s are fully galvanized. doesn't sound like the corrosion is from accident damage.
Cheers,
