I have had a bunch of coupes...always hated Targas. Finally bought my first Targa, a really cherry 73.5 911T. Rarely drive the coupes anymore...they just collect dust in the garage. I guess I have seen the light and am now a believer in the "Flexy-flyer"

Everyones garage should have one of each so when you arrive home in the targa you get to look at the coupe sitting there with its' beautiful lines.
![]() You only drive the Coupe when you want to do some serious racing though because we all know that Targas aren't capable of doing any serious track work right? ![]() ![]()

I could not agree more with the proponents of owning a Targa. Bill V is especially succinct.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I always wanted a Targa and that is what I ended up getting. Fun on and off the track. Personal preference and certainly not a compromise between a coupe and a cab. Never been disappointed - a keeper. Better vision from the rear with the huge window. On a nice sunny day, take the top off and you don't get blown to bits. Targas rule....

I like the coupe and the Targa. The Targa has a very aggressive look from certain angles. There are some angles where I think it looks slightly awkward, but there are angles of view that I don't care for on the coupe too! For some reason, the color of a Targa is critical to its looks; not so with the coupe. In any case, the Targa is MUCH better for taking interior photos.

Lubemaster is right, we should start a club of targa owners and proponents. I propose T.O.A.D.- Targa Owners Against Discrimination.

Like the idea, but the discrimination part, I am against it but...well how about one of these?
TAG – Targa Ass Grabb’n TAP – Targa Absolute Performance TAB – Targa, Absolutely the Best TOGOW – Targa Or Go Without TORAC – Targa Racing and Concours TORC - Top Off, Racing, Concours TOUR – Top Off Uber Ruf (sp?) TOW – Targas Or Walk Just an idea. TOAD would also work though...

GSpreeman,
Drive a Coupe, then drive a Targa. Then find the best one you can find and buy it. then drive it. IMHO, Targas Rule ![]()

The next few months here in Florida always make me nostalgic for my Targas (yeah, I've had 2 of 'em). The 986 is great for those warm evenings, but it's still not a 911.

Four pages of this debate..................I don't have to wonder why. Yes the coupe has better lines, but fair weather and roof off; the Targa rules.
![]() cnielsen, is that "Talbott yellow"? Looks great. QUESTION: Has anyone tried making a RS or RSR clone based on a Targa?

I know an SC has been backdated...check for "The Ultimate Backdate Thread". I think. Looks very nice with the subtle flaring on the rear wheels. I've also seen an RSR look on an early targa. Actually looked pretty good. I'll see if I can find a pic...

Nice picture of that extra wide rear "Doug&Julie" almost reminds me of a 993 in a way.
