No doubt, a Cayanne parked next to me and my (P38, last gen, not the BMW designed) Range Rover this morning when I came to the office.

I thought to myself, I REALLY love the Porsche brand as I have lusted after the 911 (930 in particular) for 20 years... but there is NO WAY I could justify a Cayanne! It is a compromise vehicle. Not the best on-road (although the Turbo is fast, I'd rather have a GT 2 or 3) and not the best off road. (Impossible with those wheels and tires!)

GREAT for Porsche's bottom line, but not for me by a long shot.

I really don't get all this bashing the Cayenne.

Does it make your Porsche (if you even have one) a lesser car?

Are you upset that mums take their kids to school in a PORSCHE?

Have you driven one?

Never mind....

If they just could have made it good-looking a lot would be forgiven.

That spoof doesn't make sense.

Cayennes are not particularly expensive. I'm sure by now the majority of Cayennes sold are the base model. You know, the one with the VW Golf engine, $44,000. You've seen the ads for it with the $459 lease payment.

That's a lot less than a Range Rover.

So, the "More Money than Taste" thing doesn't make sense!

Now you can have a small amount of taste, and an even SMALLER amount of money to show that bad taste to the world!

Agreed. I'm not a fan of SUVs either, but the Cayenne turbo is remarkable.

I also don't understand tne Cayennem bashing. It seems to come from people who have never even driven one. I do not own one, but had one a Cayenne S for a week as a loaner last year. It is without doubt a phenomenal vehicle..an SUV on steroids. The handling was outstanding.
Bashers..give it up.
regards,
Steve

Cayenne was also one of the reasons that Porsche earned a net profit of 1 billion Euros last year. Nice to know they'll be around for a while longer.

How was their profitability before the Cayenne?

Were they about to go bankrupt?

Or were they already the world's most profitable auto maker?

I got to drive a turbo on an Auto-X course at the Cayenne Experience thing when they first came out. The handling and acceleration were phenomenal. It was exactly what you would expect when Porsche puts everything they know about how to make a sports car into a SUV package. There is not nearly anything else that comes close to the performance of the Cayenne in an SUV or most cars for that matter.

That spoof ad has been posted a dozen times over the past year. And the only thing funny about it is the Cayenne TT would, without breaking a sweat, wax nearly any car I see listed in the replies to this thread .....

NO WAY..

My wife has a Cayenne and I think it's really a great vehicle. The RR is highest depreciating vehicle in California ( when purchased new). I know they're not sure where the Cayenne is going as far as resales, but, 30,000 owners last year can't be that stupid. Porsche only produces 60,000 vehicles total a year.

Just an opinion...
