Mike,
Great post - looking forward to seeing it close up. Maybe someday mine will go through a similar evolution. Looks like I'm about 3 years behind you!

See you soon,

Doug

Appreciate the encouragement guys,

The track rims are CCW, Link here. .
TT, 4 sports cars in your signature? Please do intervene I want to be as well as you.
Chuck, it’ll sport your oil lines too.

Jack thanks for postings Jae's Mirage International shop car.
His car development and many of the lessons learned are key to the success of the RSR+.
Lap times…I’ll take a guess after we have the dyno and weight specs.
Yesterday with the drivetrain out it pushes nice and light like a 1.25 car.

You could call Jae and ask, he is very accessible and a really nice guy. Not sure about the internals on the 3.8 (CR, rods, oiling, etc.), but it is about as mean as you can get without forced induction. He was using big TWM individual throttle bodies and Haltech engine management w/ Electromotive crankfire twin-plug ignition back when it was a 3.6 previously. It was plenty strong then, but it's never enough, eh Mikey?

Mike, I'll say it again... "I want to be you!"

Very nice. I can't wait to see the finished product in person.

You guys are too nice. This time it will have a passenger race seat. When the track promoters permit as a qualified PCA TT instructor I'd welcome student passengers on DE days at Big Willow.

Dunlap GT slicks for racing, though the comparable street size tires might be 345/35/18 rear and a 265/35/18 front.

Hopefully the next update will have the suspension pieces installed and the correct ride height. After a bit of a wait JRZ shipped the shocks yesterday from the Netherlands.

Some pm'd me on what an "active trans" meant. That just means all gears can be used for racing. 1st gear will be good for rolling race starts around 50mph. While street driving trying to get it going on steep hill might best be avoided.
Here is a graphic of the active trans final drive chart.

You would be my first choice for a longer street drive, our combined weight should help soften the ride of the racey coil springs.

Jae Lee at Mirage International has sourced most of the parts for the Mirage 911 RSR+ project.
Installation of the ERP 935 style front suspension with the JRZ single adjustable raised struts was completed yesterday.

Here is Jae with the RSR+ on the lift during the install.

A new ERP/Mirage cockpit adjustable blade style rear sway bar is being installed. The front version is next. Click here to see the Pelican thread on these very trick new sway bars.

The ERP 935 front suspension parts, in stock at Mirage.

JRZ single adjustable raised and decambered struts.

Here they are on the car. The small red box on the inner fender well ahead of the strut is a hard wired switch able transponder. Ahead of that is the exit duct for the front mounted oil cooler.
A Smart racing adjustable front sway bar will be used until the ERP/Mirage cockpit adjustable blade style front bar is available.

Thanks Dave, the RSR+ has a sweet tooth for more TRE lightweight candy. Specifically your new plastic door handles and the 911R front turn signals.

More sweets for the RSR+.
Fuel Safe 27 gallon fuel cell.

A 6 nozzle fire extinguisher system. Jae got a great price on these, cheap insurance. My wife was glad to see this and the HANs device. The RSR+ will still carry a hand held bottle in the event of an off to snuff any grass fires that could start under the 911 due to the low hanging headers.

Photo of the RSR+ Smart racing Aero style boots. During the last NASCAR speedway event on the high speed banks 2 of the stock bellows style CV covers failed. It was not fun changing two of those at the track Sunday at 6am. So Jae sourced these trick Aero boots along with the trick grease for all four ends.

JRZ double adjustable rear shocks.

The Smart racing adjustable control arm boxes.

Vic is making good progress on 3.6 engine and the new active 915 transaxle.
Jae is servicing the LSD.
I'll post some photos of today's rear suspension install soon.
Thanks for your interest,
Mike

Wait, I finally found something that I have a suggestion to improve. Of course, you're building a perfect car, so it's very minor.

But I'd eliminate any switch on the transponder. So long as it's on a switched (by the ignition) circuit, you only run the risk of forgetting to switch it on and losing times. It draws almost no current. I have mine hard-wired in and it's better to never have to think about it.

Like I said, it's a very minor suggestion for what might be the ultimate early car.

Sometimes you prefer to keep your cards closer to the vest, as if anyone was concerned about my lap times.
I am very open to suggestions.

Thanks though Ultimate is not the goal, the goal is just to have FUN.

I'm not a Caliper expert, they look trick what are those from?
I just have turbo brakes and Pagid Orange pads.

I just thought I'd add a shot of Ted's car in action. This was shot in 2004 at a AROSC - Willow Springs Event.
