Mike,
I was poking around at girodisc.com the other day and was wondering if that's your car peeking out from behind a Ferrari ? Sure looks like it. |

After it’s completely developed and track tested it will go back to Axiom for paint. I’ll most likely drive it as is till willing to accept some down time for a paint job. I’m not rushing this but right now I just want to race it. It’s a good time to leave it in primer with so much work remaining. Next it returns to Autopower for rear suspension fabrication. Color? White would be easiest though an "old school" color change is possible? Maybe the Penske blue TRE Dave suggested? As for livery the f/g race parts still have the Brumos style stripes on them. In stealth street trim the steel front and rear hoods might be just plain white. Race day in Sept? Wait and see, for now I have penciled in the October Alfa Club race date at Big Willow. Quote:
Yes the new front spoiler is maybe an inch lower than the RS bumper with the chin spoiler installed. Quote:
because that was the sound it made when it hit the wall. That’s not in our plans and I agree the proportions are similar. ![]() Photo of the VW bug womp womp. ![]() Quote:
Nice photo as my 911 is ahead on grid and had actually out qualified the Ferrari. Not that my car was in anyway faster than that Ferrari. ![]() Get my drift...Is that subtle or what. ![]() The RSR+is back in the garage for the weekend. Having had the RS look for a couple of years it may take a couple days/beers to become accustomed to her new curves. ![]() ![]() ![]() All Body work was expertly completed by Axiom Motor Sport. Located in Los Angeles you can reach them at 1 310 677 7372. They treated me very very well. ![]() ![]() ![]() Tell them you saw the RSR+ superwide body here! |

Mike,
I was looking at that Mark Donahue biography last week and there is a pic of the RSR wide body that they ran in only one race. That would be a great color scheme for the new and improved car! Congrats on getting it back home - looks great!

Wow!! I love the look of that car!! Is the front spoiler removable (quick fittings?)? I'm just thinking, how would you ever get that on a trailer?!...very very long acute-angled ramps? When does it go to paint? Can't wait to see it at the track!
Cheers!

Hey guys thanks for the encouragement.
I'll take and post some photos this week. The past updates were easy and dramatic through the Axiom super wide body build. I kinda got used to having Axiom send me those updated photos frequently. ![]() Regarding the comments above.... Since this 911 is wide like a regular at a buffet this lady might look better in a dark blue Mu-mu. ![]() Yes the front spoiler is low, too low to just drive/winch on the trailer. Possible trailer ramp mods and more spoiler mods are lower on the list. For now the spoiler is off the car during the build up. Progress has been good. The 911 spent a week at Autopower to complete the rear chassis mods. New pivot points and coil-over mounts. It's back at Jae's. Fuel system was installed today. 27 gallon Fuel cell, sender, pump, 2 filters and an adjustable fuel regulator. Oil system is next. Then plug in the 3.6 engine and trans w/pump filter and cooler. As they say this post means nothing without pictures! Photos by Friday. ![]() |

I was over @ Jae's 2nite...There's another mod I don't see you talkin' about...can you say AIR JACKS??? Dude...whats up? I can see it now...no talking to the lowly 3.0 - 3.2 guys...oh no...you'll be hangin w/ the cup car guys. The shame...The horror
![]() I like the way the engine compartment is hogged out...should be plenty of room in there now! Oh wait...that 3-6 will fill it up soon enuf! Good work! Moved suspension pts? Where's my protocol for filing protests? Can't wait to see it out there!

Here’s a good link for those guys that emailed me asking about Axiom Motor Sports.
Axiom does more than only body work. They are online now with a cool website showing a sample of the awesome work they have done. Click here for more info on Axiom Motor Sports . After Axiom was finished with all the body mods we took the RSR+ to Autopower in San Diego. This is the same Autopower that produces Roll bar/cage kits for many Porsche models. Click here for more info on Autopower. Autopower had done the cage in an earlier update and now it was time to fabricate the rear chassis. Basically they tied the roll cage into the rear frame and added a new cross-member for the coil-overs. Raised spring-plate bungs were welded and triangulated on top of the torsion tube. This raised the spring-plate mount about 2 inches. This combined with adjustable control arm mounts should allow Mirage to tune in the rear perfectly while keeping the C/G low. Yes ![]() The car sits low and the air jacks will make the frequent track side tire changes a breeze. The car just got back to Mirage International. The owner Jae has just installed the 27 gallon fuel cell. The Smart racing oil sump is being plumbed as well. The drivetrain installation will follow. Enjoy the the RSR+ street/track 911 photos. ![]() Hopefully you can see this ok. Just to help get you orientated this is looking through the engine compartment. Upper coil-over mounts. ![]() New tender springs were not yet installed in this photo. ![]() Detail of where the Autopower chassis connects with the stock rear frame. Note the 2x3x12 sleeve Autopower placed over the stock frame. H/D fabricated upper coil over-mounts as well. Looking deeper and you can see the new raised spring-plate bung welded and triangulated on top of the torsion tube. ![]() The horizontal belt line height X connect the main hoop to the new rear cross member. The rear of the X attaches near the upper coil over mounts. Looking deeper again notice the relocated spring-plate bung welded on top of the torsion tube. Just behind that is the driver's side air jack sleeve. ![]() Front shot of the horizontal X where it connects to the main hoop. ![]() The X through the rear window. You can see the passenger side air jack sleeve behind the seat. ![]() |

Here you can see the amount the spring plate mount has been raised.
![]() Close up of the H/D avaition grade 15 spring-plate bolt that Cary at ERP supplied. ![]() A nice tight shot, Right side adjustable control arm mount. In the yellow is the rasied bung/spring-plate mount on the torsion tube. The can behind that is the air jack sleeve, the air jack will be placed inside the sleeve. ![]() Last edited by ted; 06-16-2005 at 06:58 PM.. |

The front with the 27 gallon fuel cell.
Cell was ordered with a sump and doors to avoid fuel starvation. Smart racing oil sump. Notice under the welded area under the steering knuckle where Axiom raised the roof of the firewall. Now my size 13 shoes should clear this area when dancing between gas and brake pedals. ![]() Form an Ant's view. A black fiberglass cover is under the fuel cell. Cell goes into a filter and then into the pump. Another filter will be located after the pump along with an adjustable regulator. Plumbed for max ground clearance. ![]() Ready for a nice smooth belly pan. ![]() Cool custom links for the Mirage/ERP cockpit adjustable blade style sway bar. ![]() On another update I'll include photos of the WEVO custom tall mans shifter with his new super light weight knob. I’m anxious to try it out. ![]() Next will be the 3.6 conversion along with the transaxle, cooler pump and filter. Thanks again for your interest, it is much appreciated. I went down and looked at it yesterday at Jae's, Mikey. You are so far down the slippery slope it makes a black hole look like a minor magnetic phenomena.
![]() Can't wait to see it done and back on the track. TT

Mike, very cool!! Autpower is doing some really nice work (OR did)
What is the purpose of moving the spring plate pickup point? Improved geometry? OR raising the suspension in the car (IE lowering the car, but maintaining geometry?) I guess it is also moved forward, too, from stock. So several axes are changed. Doug
