Looking good Mike. Can't wait to go for a ride.
Good to see ya on Sat. I'm sure we'll hang out again soon. But be sure to let me know when you are taking this out. I'll try and keep some funds, time off, etc in reserve to join ya. Man, I sooo want air jacks but I have no excuse other than coolness factor.

Maybe stock white hoods w/o vinyl and a higher RSR front bumper (better ground clearance) will help tone it down. In the winter I’ll wear a gray wig if it keeps me from getting pulled over. ![]() The color is undecided, maybe just a quickie white respray for now. Seems every 3 years all the track rash requires a paint tune up, maybe then I’ll try a color change. Orange, Gold, Blue would all be possibilities. Quote:
You must be enjoying your new race engine. Sunday at the DE it appeared you got a lot of practice passing cars. ![]() Quote:

I think he has a kit on the shelf for sale. Be sure to tell him you saw his creation on the Pelican board. Call Mirage International owner Jae Lee at 1 858 581 1101. http://www.mirageintl.com/ As you can see there is still more to do. The tin work in the rear seat area is the next biggie. Expect more updates as progress continues. Thanks for your interest. Ted aka Mike. ![]() |

I also got a request for close ups of the air jack install. I'll try to post some after the weekend. Lucky me lowyder993s has offered to help tin the rear seat and front oil cooler plenum. Thanks Jim! |

Mike, (or Ted?)
Your car looks great. I can only tell you that the airjacks will change your life! Please tell me about your seat - what is it? My car is (was!) a 1972 Targa. It might help you with ideas for the oil-cooler scoop and the side sills. Oh - and I also told my wife is was going to be a streetcar! Regards, Tom ![]()

![]() My good friend Jim Copp aka lowyder993s has been a great help. It's been a satisfying and time saving experience watching him and his crew complete the aluminum fabrication. ![]() Here are some photos Jim sent me of the front cooler ducting. Jim and his crew designed and fabricated this custom plenum and ducting. ![]() The front/center air jack created some design challenges. The side exit ducting was an idea that TRE Dave had shared with me a few years ago. It worked great on the car before. This new plenum is a slick unit. After the weekend I'll have photos of the white enamel coated aluminum rear seat enclosure. With Jim's help the RSR+ is days away from final race prep, corner balance and wheel dyno. Thanks Jim! Front with the cooler removed. The heated air exits inside both front fender-wells. ![]() From above the routing of the plenum exit ducts. ![]() Close up of the -16 center oil cooler line with gasket where it enters the plenum. ![]() Looking through plenum and the -16 cooler fittings at the same -16 line as it enters the plenum. Note the one off -16 to cooler welded fittings. Frequently off the shelf parts were not adaptable, requiring problem solving and custom fabrication. ![]() The large flush mounted duct exit, this one inside the driver's front fenderwell. On the list, grind and seam weld the visable bottom seam. ![]() The "to do" list is getting smaller! On Labor Day I drove it (slowly) for the first time in the driveway. ![]() Perhaps it will be race ready by the end of October??? ![]() Thanks for your interest, Mike Last edited by ted; 09-09-2005 at 04:48 PM.. |

Yo Ted/Mike - It's getting mighty close. Will we see you at Pahrump Nv in Oct? My only hope is to pass you before the RSRRRRR gets shaken down. After that, fuugetaboutit.
Congrats on a great project Best, Pete

Within the week it should be on the street. I plan to take it for a long putt around San Diego to break in the engine. Then in mid Nov. we have a local PCA DE where we can shake down the car more. I need to take then post photos of several nice installs we have completed over the last couple of weeks. I'll post some photos asap. Thanks for your interest. ![]() Mike |

Almost to the finish line!
The car is looking AWESOME - even bigger - than - life in person than in the photos. Can't wait to see it GO! Good luck this week and look forward to seeing you soon (Wednesday at Jae's)! For those of you not in San Diego - this car is awesome! Attention to detail is very nice. Hardly a mod exists that hasn't been thoughtfully considered and applied to this car. Doug
