Ignition wires?

Does anyone have any experience with Clewett ignition wire sets as sold by our sponsor? I am renewing my wires, and wondering if these wire sets are of the same quality and reliability of a set of Beru, or Megnecors.
Thanks in advance for any of your experiences.

Yup, I've been running a set for some time. Lots of us have chimed in about them. Everyone that has them, including myself, seems to be universally pleased with them. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Hmmm, that cant be good news for Clewetts, as I dont get a warm fuzzy feeling about purchasing a set.
Any other positive or negative experiences?

Hey..I am assuming that the set you have now on the car are original Beru wires...If yes, they lasted 18 years....Get another set of Beru's and call again in the year 2023....

Put a set of Clewett's on my car yesterday. They went on easy enough but #6 was 5 inches longer than the Beru's ( they were all a little long). They did not fit in the Beru wire olders either as they are too thick, and the top did not seal over the valve covers either. I better bargain price-wisethan Beru's but the details are lacking.

I think I'm going to get a new set of Beru's for my car... She needs new wires pretty bad.

I put Clewetts on my car recently.

Positives: Relatively inexpensive, look nice (I chose basic black), seal very tightly in valve cover holes, each wire labeled by number.

Negatives: A couple wires didn't "snap" on the plug ends (I think they made contact fine, just lacked tactile feedback), #6 wire a bit too long.

Neutrals: Had to drill out the Beru wire holders (takes 5 minutes), resistance 0.3K ohms vs Beru 3.0K ohms (not sure if this is good, bad, or indifferent).

My conclusion - good for the price.

You can get a reel of copper or ss core wire and all the pieces, like seals facory ends etc and make up your own.

I made a set from Acel 7mm yellow silcon sheathed w/ factory ends and seals for my '72. Looked and worked great. Not very expensive either.

Buy the braided ones, they come with the holders already on them, and half the price

I had Magnecor make me up a custom set to my specified length for my 3.5L twin-plug conversion. They're not the cheapest on the market, but I am happy with them.

I don't know if Pelican sells Magnecor. If not, give Steve Brown at Magnecor a call at 248.471.9505. He's a good guy.

As Bill mentioned, making up your own set isn't too tough or that expensive to do either, especially for a single plug motor.

You'll need roughly 15' of wire for a single plug 3.2L motor, better to make them too long and cut to fit rather then being too short and screwed.

Not sure why Porsche plug wires are that costly. Probably because of the spelling and the special spark plug ends.

But if you can reuse the ends, why not just buy bulk wire? I recall buying stainless steel core, silicon insulated wires for a few bucks. They've been on the car for 20 years and they still work fine. Not able to source a few feet locally for one long coil wire, I recently purchased an entire set of solid core, silicon spark plug wires for a VW bug (w/ends and boots) for $11.
