I have a basic (well with some small mechanical modifications) 1978 sc, and I am thinking of replacing the front and rear with rsr or ruf bumpers. Unfortunately i am in two minds - can not decide if I should keep it as it should be or change it
( Whilst I do really love the classic sc look, I also like the ruf look. What do you all think????

I have been recommended against it by a 911 body shop who is currently replacing my front wings. They said it will reduce the value of a great car???

Modify it, a stock SC is worth $10G. A modified SC is worth $10G. If you like it, go for it. Don't worry about its market value, there is not much there.

Keep it stock...SC's will go up in value as time passes and modifications will hurt the price down the road....

I was thinking more - modify the mechanics as much as possible, but keep the look the same - or is this wrong??

I'm thinking of a compromise
I may go for this front splitter and a duck tail
It's not my car....but schweet! I think it gives a bit of the RUF profile while still maintaining the bumper. I bet it is easier to go back to stock that way |

Not sure... I just can not make up my mind, and the car is in the shop whilst we speak!! At the moment I am more on the side of keeping it original (with plans of upgrading to a 2.3 lump)

Make modifications that are reversible. Keep original parts.
To a certain extent all modifications are reversible, but be realistic. If you are talking about welding on RSR flares...that's not really an easily reversible mod. Swapping bolt on parts is. Treat it like a set of legos. Snap and unsnap - just don't break an individual piece to suit a particular mod.

If you're looking for investment options and return on your dollar, buy mutual funds. If you're looking to enjoy your car and please your emotions, modify it in whatever way makes you happy!

Make it a super sleeper! Spend the body mod money on getting that motor massaged.

That car looks familiar.
Did you bring it in to where I work a while ago for some alignment and a wheel balance? If this is the car I remember, I would try to keep it standard or not do anything irreversible because it really is a nice one.

better all original than a 'poser' car..if you go ruf, go ruf all the way..otherwise original.

MODIFY IT!! BUT Keep the original parts. If you ever decide to sell, you can always put the originals back. and sell the upgrades as options.
