Josh, thanks very much, that's good info with the part number for the hoses. I'll go that route if someone doesn't chime in with a p/n for a single hose.
As for the footwell blowers, there's got to be an easier way, I'll wait for the evening shift to come on and see if there's another solution. Bill W.

Bill - They're Bosch wires. 7mm I believe. I picked them up from a local Autozone for around $150 I think.
In my defense, at the time I did order Magnacores from Pelican, but they were backordered for what seemed like an eternity.

Just finished mine-good project for a day when we're having 5 in. of rain.
First, thanks for the part, Thom. The only comment I'd make is that perhaps you could "fill" the mold a bit where the distrib cap is close, as its where the hold down bolt is and mine makes significant contact, enough that it was a pain to put the cap on. I used 2.5 ft of scat to make the transition. As to the footwell blowers, I fed 12+ into the switch on the lever, and then back out to the black wire. Mine needed the 12+ spliced to into the both sides of the black, in other words, I didn't just cut the wire and run the 12+ to the rotary switch side. Tried it that way initially and it didn't work. We're going on a leaf run next weekend in the mountains, so I should have a good idea as to how much heat it throws.

Please enlighten a newbie. Why does your engine compartments look that much different from mine in the inner left quadrant ?
I noticed since on your pictures the rear upper shock bolt looks perfectly accessible. In my ´85 its not. Don´t mean to change subject - just eager to understand. ![]()

Markus, that's the whole point of this mod. - backdating your heat frees up a lot of space back there. In the photo you're talking about, the heater blower and tube are gone. THis makes things look much nicer and makes it much easier to reach things. Heater blowers are useless in these cars. My SC will cook you in less than 2 min. and I've backdated my heat.

Rick - thanks !
Of course, then I´ll have to ask - if its useless, why is it there in the first place ?

It's there so you have some more defrost than you'd otherwise have. I just went through inspection today and had enough defrost with no blower, sitting at idle to pass. Any non-Porsche person who rides in my car is very cold weather can't believe it when I tell them I took the heater out. Same with my 993. Air-cooled cars heat just fine with just the heat exchangers.

Josh-didn't realize you were local, we'll need to get together and do a Jim Thorpe run or something before the season's out.
And Ralph, if I lived in SoCal and was sawing at the wheel as much as that motor likely causes you do do, I'd not need heat.

Thanks Greg for the info on the 12v to the footwell blowers. I'll take the controller box apart to make sure I know what you're talking about.

Bill-one caveat-my car had manual heat, not auto heat. I suspect yours might be different.

For the record, my car also has manual heat. I have a feeling auto-heat may be more challenging.
Yeah Greg, we'll need to get together sometime for a drive, or at least a Porsche B.S. session. Nice weather this weekend huh? ![]()
