Rick - No, unfortunately, I have this nagging responsibility known as work, which really bites right now. I was having thoughts of trying to get in last minute, but my wallet is telling me otherwise. I will be at Watkins Glen in 2 weeks though. I'm real happy about that.

Where do you get that nice silver Porsche logo'd fan housing cover thingy..lol not sure what its called. Mine is all dirty, I plan on cleaning it when i put my new plug wires in this weekend but would like to have a nice logo'd one isntead.

Pelican sells some, I suspect. I bought mine from Aircraftspruce.com 2.5" SCEET high temp silicon coated, wire framed ducting. It is about $10 / foot. Did my whole car with about 8' - 10'. Look in airframe section. VERY nice quality.

My fan strap has simply been powdercoated (along with all of the other engine bits) and I affixed the decal on top as a personal touch. The decal was given to me from my ex-coworkers at Porsche Motorsport. They are pretty stingy with them, good luck getting one without having your GT3RSR motor serviced by them.

Just ordered a couple of resistors per Kurt's update on his backdate. I couldn't find a 51ohm/15W, but did find 10W and 25W versions. I ordered one of each to meet the $10 minimum, and see what happens. I'll update when I get it in.

I've started to backdate my engine compartment. I removed the factory air box and put a fresh air intake on. Then I removed the AC compressor, belts and hoses. I was wondering how to remove the bracket that holds the AC compressor (see yellow arrow in pic). I found a couple of bolts up towards the top, but it's the bottom part that I can't figure out. Any help would be appreciated.

Two main ones on top of the engine tim metal = by the side of the fan housing. One just to the rear of the arrow.

Down below the sheet metal - there are two more (I believe)

You;ll probably have to remove the muffler to get to them. You can see it pretty clearly here:

Yes, you might have to losen the engine sheet metal a little on the right side - but yes...

Ok, thanks. I've just changed my muffler to a Borla so it'll be easy to get to those bolts on the bottom.

How about a resistor in the plug for the (disconnected) heater blower?

Does anyone know if this backdate works on a '85 930? If so, it would resolve my lack of heat since my headers don't have the heater boxes...I think quite a few of turbo folks are in the same boat as me and would really appreciate this option.

Let me know if this would be better served if posted on the 911 turbo section.

This has been tried. The resistor eventually failed.
This thread details a simple jumper you can add to the heater blower relay that will enable the footwell blowers to function after you disconnect the rear blower.

FWIW, I backdated the heat when I installed my B&B headers, and now my heat is MUCH weaker. I'm not sure if it's the headers or the new heater tubes.

930's already have a heater duct similar to what is used to backdate the 3.2s.
I'm afraid that if you have aftermarket headers with no heater boxes, you're SOL...

I think I know what to do w the hole left in the rear tin where the ducting used to go.

Fill it with a charge pipe from a turbo. Is it in the right place?
