I thought Q3 was a little dated to be listed as a fps gamers current game of choice. You gonna mirror the raptors? That will give you the best read speeds, the trade off is slower write speeds, but who cares about that on a game rig. If you want some help tweaking the system for optimal performance once you get your parts together let me know. I have a few tricks

Yes I am going to mirror them. (meaning they will do the same thing redundantly) That is not actually the fastest set up for gaming. I think raid 0 is the fastest. Who knows, I could be way off course on that one. I still love Q3. Still my all time favorite. Here is the un-finished project.

The best consistent read speed will come from RAID 1, the reason for this is that the I/O request is sent to both drives simultaneously. In a RAID 0 config the data is striped over both disks so it has to send the individual I/O request to the drive that is storing the block of data being accessed. This is important as our OS's are multi-threaded and often results in disk I/O request being cued up. In a RAID 1 environment either disk can fulfill the disk I/0 request where as in a RAID 0 the disk I/0 request can only be fulfilled by the drive that has that block.

Nice work. So what is the ball park cost for a customer who wants the same thing done to his car?

Weeeeeeeeeee Got the corner weighting and alignment done yesterday at Custom ALignment in Mt. View. Freaking "A", what a difference! This car drives SO nice! Can I go ahead and say?, I love this car!

WOW! I added it up tonight. Just got through doing the 1000 mile service on the car and switched it over to Mobil 1 15/50w.
I still have not installed the new sound system. I need to recover a bit after all of this.

Are we sitting down for this one???

$10728.11 = parts
$81.00 = Oil/gear oil
$891.75 = tax
$2087.50 = sublet
$20.00 = haz disposal
$5718.75 = labor
$465.96 = 1000 mile service
------------------------------------------

Total (retail) $19,993.07

Still cheaper then buying a new car.

Thank you very much. Now that it is 98% done, the wife wants to drive it. LOL! I tossed the keys to her this morning and watched her dissapear down the road with a big smile on her face.

Everything is done now except the stereo. Got it detailed today. I also gave it a good romp to South Lake Tahoe and back this last weekend.

You know, for a long time I hadn't liked guard's red porsches. Thought it looked dated. That thing, however, is frikkin STUNNING.

Good GOD! I'm the guy that sold/transferred the car to Syncroid and my jaw has definitely dropped! It's for the best though, I simply could not afford to fix it up like the new owner has.

Dan, that was an amazing set of pics with all the little details involved in an impressive restoration. Thanks for posting for all us to admire; the car looks amazing. To me, this is such a iconic 911.....maybe it's the posters I had as a kid, but i do have a soft spot for guards red. I even like it on the 997s too!

I somehow dropped the ball on this thread.
Thank you Moazam. You will have to swing by the shop one of these days and take her out for a drive. Give me a call first to make sure I have it at the shop. The wife really likes driving it too.
Thank you also jfw834. I like taking before, during, and after shots of my projects. I am glad you enjoyed the photos.
I still have not done the stereo install yet. I will most likely do a step by step photo shoot of that too. When I do, I'll be sure and post.
