Whats the value of a used B&B muffler?

I have a line on a used B&B muffler with 3000 miles on it. It is in close to perfect shape. He is asking $620. I know this is value compared to new, however it is used. Good price???

Thanks

James

B&B mufflers used to have a near 100% failure rate. I don't think it is warranteed for anyone but the original purchaser.

Thanks for replying to such a silly question. 100% Failure? What years, and how does it fail? I never would have thought something so simple and EXPENSIVE could fail.

Thanks
James

James,
Here is my personal sample of one piece of statistical data:

B&B Heat Exchangers for Sale

After having this system earlier on my car I would never even consider a B&B again.

I bought a like new fabspeed, which is like a rock (heavy too!) for $500.00, which I think was very fair.

I also had a BB on a 930, which I bought used at a swap in NJ for $200.00. It was covered with welding scars, had a rattle like a tin can. IMO, I would not buy a used B&B *muffler* (doesn't apply to headers) without the factory warranty.

Also, if you can get a new muffler from Ben (MB911) for under $500, a used B&B for under $600, I'd walk away from the B&B.

No problems with my B&B muffler. Its heavy but the newer version seem to not crack like the older ones did.

Are you looking for a 2-in 1-out or 2-in 2-out? I also have one that I never used -- still in the box.

Now, after researching, I am not sure. Thought I was! I have an OEM system on my 84 Carrera. I don't mind spending some money. Less than $1000. However, it would be cool to improve performance, as well as obtaining the coolest sound possible. It is tempting to pick up a used Borla or B&B muffler while retaining OEM heat exchangers....because of the price. OEM on the 84 is single in.

Any thoughts? I like ssi's, don't we all. Very $$$= not today.

As always, the input has been super.

Thanks
James

no noticable performance improvement with a muffler only. the power is in the headers.

Does B&B make a muffler that isn't designed for B&B headers? I don't see what the point would be.

Well taken, I will wait for SSI's. Hopefully something will show up on Ebay or hear.

Thanks to all.
