Approximately 2000, and it depends on how it is defined. I go by the combination of paint code (64xx), flat knee pad & small ignition bezel. I need to collect much more data in the transition zone from 301800 to 302300.

Restoring a 65 911

Can any of you experts tell me about a car I'm assisting in restoring. ? It is a Right Hand drive serial 302728, Has an old COA but would love to get the Kardex !! as the car had its interior replaced years ago and then was stripped ready for a restoration 10 years ago which had just commenced now.
No loom if anyone can assist, must be original plugs fuse block, etc.?

Thanks and all responses greatly appreciated.

New 66 to register

Hi all,

new 66 car to register. Barnfind, bought it last weekend in Austria.

911 FIN 303747- ENG 903883 (Solex) - GEB 902/1 228664 - 6603 Golfblau
Factory sunroof, Radio, beige artificial leather/cord

Seems this numbers are matching...

First registered Stuttgart, Germany, March 9th, 1966
5 registered owners Stuttgart region, stored from 1979-today

Will be restored.

Best, Frank

Very nice! When you say numbers matching I assume you have the COA or Kardex to compare to? I'd like to see that. When you get an opportunity, post more photos.

On another note, I have noticed a car that is truly a transition car; 302030
302030 is one of a series of cars painted 6602; Polo red, a new color for 1966 MY.
It is also RHD like most in the series. But it has the 1965 knee pad and small ignition bezel.

VIN Experts - Do I have a '65 or a '66 911?

Questions:
- should I restore the car with 4 screw hole grills?
- wash bottle location?
- ignition switch?
- anything else I should consider?
Thanks!!!
