No Cylinders and heads yet - so I moved on to the intake and put it together in anticipation of cylinders and heads arriving...

New fuel line came out Great!

What did you use for the new fuel lines?

Took my old fuel line to Amazon Hose in Tampa - while I waited - no more than 20 minutes - they installed new stainless steel braid, teflon lined hose and cleaned everything up. Best part was they did both fuel lines for around $100.

Here's a better shot

That is sooo much cheaper than the $600 for new OEM... Can you disconnect them or did they just replace with the same type fittings?
I gotta find a shop like that in Atlanta!

Replaced with the same style fitting. Piece of cake.

That's a steal of a deal.

Greg,

Any hydraulic hose shop should be able to set you up. These guys do all kinds of work for heavy machinery like forklifts and construction equipment. Do a local search in your area and i'll bet you find somebody just like Jeremy's Amazon place.

The oil you used.....

I was wondering what oil you were using in this before the rebuild. Is there something to blame the worn intake valves on?

I bought the car with 43,000 miles. It has 57,000 now. I would care to say that it probably happened before my shift - although there seems to be somewhat of a random pattern to worn guides.

My wrench seems to think that some of the lower mileage cars may actually be worse, than those that are excercised on a consistent basis.

I have been pretty religious about oil changes - always castrol GTX - but hoping to move to synthetic after break in.

Wife came home with the better digital camera - Should get heads and cylinders back tomorrow and can move this rebuild to high gear. So - you get some better quality pictures - and yes - I did take down the high spots on the intake.

Few more updates - finally got my heads and cylinders back from JB Racing

JEs cleaned up and ready to go

Installed

Air deflectors installed

Heads on.......

The stuff I thought would be hard was not (installing the rings, rings and pistons in cylinders) The stuff I thought would be easy was a b!tch (like installing circlips)

Also - at the worst possible time (installing the cam towers) my Sears torque wrench decides to take a crap. Cost me a a broken stud and basically had to strip the locktite and will have to start again (with a new torque wrench).

Red intake runners

Did you paint or powder coat the intake runners? Fan and Shroud?

If paint what exactly did you use? How did you prep?

It all looks great.

How is the glass hood coming You don't want to close that engine up and not see it. I'll give you a lot of credit for assembling it yourself. Your making me feel guilty for not doing it myself and letting someone else do it. Any past engine building experience? Then again, mine took almost a year to get back.

Engine fan and shroud have been powdercoated. They taped the ends of the fins first (at my request)

Engine building experience? Sure I built a Triumph Spitfire Engine back in the early 80's not sure that counts...

Looks great Jeremy. Did you do a "before" dyno? Do you have plans for dyno run after completion?

No before... I did a DE at Sebring the day before the engine came out - does that count?
