Looks nice, good work.

Jeff
If I measured correctly - it wasn't easy using light motor oil, and a graduated beaker - 9.854 - which is close enough for me considering my pistons are 9.8 to one.

Deck height .92 mm

Pistons were less than .5 gram difference - try that with mahles...

Very nice Jeremy, glad you got to where you wanted to be. I hope you can get away with 9.8+ and 93 with the larger bore though. Did you consider twin-plugging the heads and lower valve covers "just in case" you need to twin-plug it later?

BTW, nice looking throttle body!

Thanks for sharing the progress.

Ralph

EDIT: Deck height also looks good, what thickness base gasket did you need? .25, .5, 1.00???

Got cam towers on - Left one went without a hitch - right one still binds a little - so I will try and retorque - really don't want to have to pull it again (and have to strip all the loctite 574!)

At least it look more like and engine now

Ralph - I should be OK with the CR - If I run a really hot track day I will top off with a little race gas - but otherwise we get really decent gas here being so close to the gulfcoast...

If I grenade it - I'm sticking in a 3.6 -

More progress - got my cam to stop binding by just retorquing a few bolts - woo woo

A little more progress tonight

And I stuck one of the valve covers on just to see how it looks...

OK - little more progress - a little set back too. In my bone head move I switched the cams - hard to time a cam on the wrong side. So finally got that taken care of - and afterwards - even though I tested and redid 3 times - just to make sure I did it right.

So after a little anxiety - I made some big progress and did some buttoning up...

Woo woo! (and the cam lines are just finger tightened - I still have a few supports to add)

Jeremy, did you chamfer the heads at all to accept the 98 mm cylinders. I am just looking at mine right now and wondering if that is required of not?

Thanks, Jeff

Nope but I did have them flame ringed - the cylinders I had were flame ringed - so had to have the heads done too.

OK did the piston to cylinder check tonight - plenty of room with the valve pockets on the JE's. Installed the rest of the rocker arms, oil cooler and set all the valves. Not to difficult - getting to the end of the book so that must mean something, right? No suprises - in fact everything is coming together. I see what some people mean about setting the valve clearance by feel -

Anyway - looking like an engine now here she is sleeping...

This jack? That's my number 2 jack - I have sentimental attachment to it now... It doesn't really get any work, I just roll it around the car so it feels like it's included... It's the first floor jack I got (with two box tops from cases of Castrol) since you got me started on this adventure...

Before hooking up with this board - I didn't even change my own oil - Now look at... and it's all your fault Wayne!

A few more updates =

Go alternator hooked up - front fan belt cover = Engine Shroud and Intake. Still have to torque down the intakes - but wanted to make sure I had everything present and accounted for.

Awesome work Jeremy!

I haven't been around much lately so I must have missed what made you tear it down.

Valve guides - and increase in oil usage. 6 valves shot - springs sprung... And with me losing my garage very soon - needed to jump on it.
