9.8 is probably about the max. A bigger will actually hlp reduce the need for the twin plugging. A custom chip with a little less advance may be required. A lot will depend on how good the gas is where you live.

Euro is at 10.3 - When I started on this adventure I was told that anything under 10.0 and I would probably be fine (by several sources that have WAY more knowledge than I do). MANY people run the 3.2 euro carreras at 10.3 to 1.

I checked my CR the first time and got right around 9.8 I rechecked (after all this discussion of 9.8 JE's coming in at 10.5 to 1) and the 2nd time filling through the spark plug hole got a 9.7 to 1.

I think twin plugging looks cool - but not sure it's absolutely necessary.

Ok - made some more strides - got it from the stand to the ATV jack. Finished the sheetmetal install. Bits and pieces.

Obligatory engine on the stand picture, cute picture of the kid...

Hopefully this will be knocked out this weekend - depending on Hurricane Kat, of course...

Thanks Tim - I'll include some goodies for you.... You can borrow my engine stand adapter if you promise to send back with your dad's stuff.

I made some more progress - although I got sidetracked with a CV joint/axel that needed replaced = one thing bad about the 993 brakes on the rear is there is no friggin room for the lower caliper bolt - no problem = made a little tool to get back there.

New CV Joint/Axel

Engine/Tranny/New clutch all together (well, not bolted but mated)

This was piece of work - came apart pretty easily - but had a heck of a time lining up the bell housing and clutch/flywheel etc.... Weltmeister clutch update fit like a champ - in fact almost too well when a dropped a damn f*%$#^ screw into the bell housing - so - did this twice today... Joy Joy! Clutch was easy with the engine out.

Man, you're close. My tranny went right back up to the motor, I had my "issues" trying to split them.

Talk to me about the problem on the rear caliper bolt. I'm still waiting for Dave Walsh to send my calipers, he's had some kind of tooling problem-hence the delay, so I'll be faced with mounting in the near future.

Well the problem is no room - as in can't get anything to fit -

My solution - cheap 19mm socket that I epoxied in a 8mm bolt and nut

Jeremy,
That engine and tranny look sooo clean. What did you have done to them to look so good?

Stayed up late last night (more like early this morning) and put the engine in - It's not all the way connected - still have to finish up the B & B oil lines, transmission connection, electric connections. I do have the cv joints connected - motor and transmission mounts, front heat exchangers, starter, clutch slave cylinder, front hard line... I'll try and get everything finished today...

Ready to go in........

It's in!

You went the same route I was going to go before I found a '97 3.6 from Steve Timmins....
I wish I had had the time [someone else installed the engine] to make the engine and tranny look as good as what you have done! Your engine bay is terrific!
Keep posting!
Was EBS as good to work with as I anticipated they would be? I can't believe how close your engine design is to what I had put together for mine! I traded my old 3.2 for the labor to completely rebuild my suspension [elephant Racing, Rennsport, Bilstein, new master cylinder,
stainless brake lines, pads, Wevo engine mounts, mono balls f+r, tri strut brace, etc.]. It is a different car!
Just wait! You are going to have a GREAT time in your 'New Car'!
It looks soooo GOOD!

Thanks drums - I considered going the 3.6 route too - everybody I talked to said this was a good combination - EBS was great - very thorough - Jon kept me up to date. My heads looked like new when they returned.
