As of this last weekend, I am now a member of the 3.6 conversion club SmileWavy

Kroggers,
your 3.6 looks sooooo bad a$$$$$$$$. Like it a lot. RRWood, you gotta tell the whole story around your oil cooler setup. What are you hiding behind that valence, and what are those side scoops doing up there...and there are two of them... very very cool... |

Thank you Midnight911. Just click on my "Garage", and it will show you pretty much everything done to my car. The scoops on either side were purchased when I still had the 3.0 and oil cooler in the fender. I always liked the look, so kept them when I added the RUF valence and Setrab 500 oil cooler.

Be happy too. Just a question of taking the time. Feel free to cut and paste and if I see something amiss I can either edit it or add to it. Will also post some more pics one day. Hear are a couple more. It's still a work in progress but I have put a tad shy of 5,000 miles on it since April.

craig do you still have that car?
|
Sold it for 30k in 2005, I hear the SC chassis was converted into a longnose - then the engine was removed and a 996 CUP MOTOR was installed. Wow. What a weird chain of events.
|
wow! lots of change there. I really like your 930. To be honest, its kinda my next dream build, so much torque and HP. do you have some pics up someplace? or a build summary?

3.6 conversion on a '82 SC wearing origional paint. I really prefer the sleeper look with no tail and factory finish wheels. Car weighs 2380lbs and is all steel except rear bumper and front spoiler. Will get a FVD hotwire conversion on a 92 964 motor and tuned on a dyno next week.

Mahler,
What is up here. It looks like a single plug dist on a twin plug motor? I always wondered why others have not used an earlier fan as I believe it moves more air. Best argument I can think of for a air box it to keep from sucking hot air from under the car. Most do not go to much effort to ensure an effective seal. Quote:

I'd been holding off on adding to this thread until I had the car running.
Its a 78 SC, RHD, non sunroof coupe. Its generally very scruffy although I am improving that slowly, I call it 'The Shed' I've fitted a 95 993 motor, patrick flywheel, sachs power clutch, single pulley. Not sure where the exhaust came from, motor was in an early car before I bought it and it came with the exhaust. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...n/DSCN0866.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...n/DSCN0863.jpg Scruffy ATS wheels have winter tyres on, in spring I'll be fitting a set of 15 inch Fuchs. |

i have removed allot. did you use the old engine mount or the original 993 mount?
do you got Any pictures or more info of how to get it in place? |

Burgundyben: I like your setup with the engine removal. What are you attaching the rope ends to in the photo with the motor hoist?
What I guess you lift up the car to the height you need, then put the truck jacks under, remove the engine hoist, then slide the engine out? Pretty slick. |
I just finished my conversion last week. I'm now learning how to drive this thing all over again. The power is unbelievable!! Can't wait to get her on the track.
