Just got back from a romp to South Lake Tahoe. (to San Jose) Two hours 55 minutes. 25.5mpg on that trip. :)

Oh btw, last measured trip: 23-25 @ 70-75 mph avg 300 miles (and that's with the dreaded SW Chip and the O2 disconnected!

My suggestion is that if you are getting 23.2 mpg with MFI in a 69E, that you don't touch the injection. That's twice what I am getting!!!! What makes you think that your injection needs tweaking??

1980 SC 164K miles w/2K on a new rebuild - 11 MPG in town

Am I the only one getting this low milage? I'm in Los Angeles, and 'in town' usually means a lot of stop-go-and-idle, but I'm starting to wonder based on what others here are reporting that I may have a hole in my fuel tank!

NYNick 12-20-2014 10:49 AM

Wait.
You track the gas mileage?
That's like the only thing I rarely watch!

Arne2 12-20-2014 10:55 AM

'84 3.2 with Steve Wong chip, otherwise stock. About 18 in town, mid-20's on the highway at quasi-legal speeds (i.e. keeping up with the rest of the traffic).

You bet I do. Noticing a change in mileage is a good way to catch some types of problems.

Sounds like your car might be running pretty rich. I can't recall if an '80 has an oxygen sensor or not. If it does, that would be the first thing I'd suspect, since when they go bad they generally fail to full rich on the mixture.

Track car 6-7 mpg of 110 leaded.
Road car 17ish hway and 7ish flogging it.

I go that much on my 80 sc after a rebuild, too.

My mixed driving (50/50) in LA gives me 17-18. Pure city is rare, but I had one of those tanks - 15. 1982 911SC, 3.2ss/964 & SSI

regency 12-20-2014 07:23 PM

averaging 16-17 mpg

1981 SC, 150k, Chevron regular - 20-22 mpg in mixed driving. Throw an autocross into the mix and it usually drops to around 18 mpg.

Demetri 03-07-2022 08:07 AM

83 SC ROW - 24mpg mostly highway
