backup & reverse lights dead
The car: my '87 coupe.
The problem: a few weeks back, reverse/backup lights only came on when handbrake was pulled UP. When brake lever was released (down), the backup lights would go out -- even though the car was engaged in reverse. NOW, the backup lights don't come on at all, and -- oddly -- neither do any of the brake lights -- neither the normal rears nor the rear windshield-mounted third brake light. Brake lights don't come on when I step on the brake pedal, either. Fuses check out OK. Could these two circuits be related somehow? Might there be a common connection or physical terminal somewhere to check? I highly doubt all the bulbs are simultaneously blown; there must be another related cause... Car has no other "symptoms" or other electrical problems. Any thoughts? Thanks, --Steve

Check the rear fuse relay in engine compartment. Lots of areas where they might have loosened and/or disconnected.
