Smile RSR replica project update 5

Hello all,

Time for the next update. Car is now out of the body shop and WOW!! (even if I say so myself) it is just perfect, panels fit like they were done by the factory.

Time to get some sunshine on this baby so we can see what it looks like in natural light, out of the garage.

No doors yet, but maybe we should race it this way, an extremely lightweight race diet, might be a bit windy.

Just an idea we are toying with, which I thinks looks nicer than the standard black plastic trim. Final product would be powdercoated black. Any thoughts or feedback appreciated.

Here is a look at the front end with the oil cooler in place.

Doors have now been fitted.

Rear end starting to take shape, grills have now been fitted into the tail. We were lucky with the small grill, we had a damaged grill that we cut up to make so everything matches.

What a fantastic rear end, now complete tailights in place.

Shell now complete and awaiting reassembly. Final polishing will be done once everything is put back together, and then Jagermeister race graphics.

Well thats it for now, next update in about a week.

As usual comments good or bad always welcome.

Great workmanship! We anxiously await more chapters. I guess this is Spring for you. Is your project on a weather driven timetable at all??

BTW, I think your sill plates look very classy... Just don't add any extra weight!!
Is this car going to be streetable, as well as a track vehicle? I notice you are putting all the lighting back in place.

Guys thanks for all the fantastic comments, really appreciate it.

In answer to some questions:

Car will be fully street legal and used for Porsche club events, auto-x and track days as well as concourse and Porsche parades. One hell of a weekend fun toy.

No worries about the weather here we just build them in the sunshine, nearly all year round.

Color was choosen to stick out and be unusual, very few orange cars or RSR replicas here in SA.

Jager graphics, Recaro spg's will just finish it off with that mean race look, also push button start, and wait till you see our final touches on the RUF wheels.

Thanks once again guys.
