Lil late in posting but NICE work Doc! Tyson and I almost convinced a freind of our to do that with his 94 C2. We decided on an 94 RSR look. It would have been a cool look for his C2. I did notice that you posted that you have to put a splitter to hide the underpan of a late model car. Just as I come to finish my car you go and give me more ideas on how to spend my $$$. I hate you, I hate you, I hate you :)

And here she is.

You do a really great job on that photoshop stuff! ;) You could probably make a living doing it. :D The only version you haven't done is one with the black grafx. In the color pole I did a few months ago I think wht/blk came in 3rd. Would you PleasE! give us black. Oh! Couldya make the paddles on the wheels polished looking. Like Jacks. Please! Couldya! Couldya! :D SmileWavy |
I think the one above is the winner...............
Cheers |

Your right that blue is very nice.:D If it is my choice this is the color that I would do it in. It looks great. It might not be my choice on this one. We'll see! BUT I will do one in wht/blu. With frosted wheels  |
Ok Porsche Doc, but give me some time, I just got home after three Kettle One Martinis. Black graphics on white is a little harsh but I'll work my magic. I do make my living with Foto-shop. It's been a crazy day, sometime tomorrow I will give you black.
But seriously, if fur is the new black and black is the new grey (I'm so LA) what color did you want again? |
color combos
Porsche Doc, You've got me on a roll, I want to thank 'DW SD' in San Diego for these incredible wheels, I wish I could afford these on my RSR. Here are the black graphics you requested plus a couple extra pieces of art. Man, don't these rims look great!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1133340245.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1133340279.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1133340313.jpg

That looks just great! The blue gets my vote.

Eric !
You the Man! THANKS!!!!!! That looks great. I will have to say I like the color keyed wheels with the colored grafx. IMO Ah! Can I ask for one more? Please! Take the one with black grafx and make the body color bright yellow something like speed or lemon yellow. Leave the frosted wheels. I have another 73 RSR I am building and I was thinking of yellow and black theme. Thanks! SmileWavy |
yellow black combo
Porsche Doc, In the interest of time I already had a yellow version of my (green) RSR so I only had to Photoshop the wheels on to get the combo you wanted. Looks cool to me.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1133404641.jpg
|
Oh!
So you bought rattlesnake's RSR? That is a very nice car Man! Can you make it bright yellow like the color of this smilie. :) I tried it and it looked like crap! I tried Yellow and Mexico blue ones. Don't laugh Man! Trust me I won't give up my day job. :D I will leave this kinda stuff to you EXPERTS! ;) SmileWavy http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1133405323.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1133405527.jpg |

Hey Doc,
Just curious. Do you build these cars, then find owners for them? Or are these/this car have an owner waiting for them/it? |
yellow...plus white with black rims

Almost all of the race cars I build I am building for a customer. Some of the Hot Rod Porsche's are customer cars. The rest are are built to sell. I just like building these cars. I am a true Porsche-attic and I just can't help myself. So we build Porsche's. It all started in 1970 with a Speedster and then a 911. I did them all thru collage and after I became a M.E.. All the time I worked as an engineer I was doing Porsche's for guys part time. Back in the 80's I took the big leap and made ACC full time. :D It's been a hell of a ride. ;) Would you like me to build you your dream car? SmileWavy |
Eric!
Damn your bad Man! Thanks!! I will have to put you on the Grafx payroll.:D Or I could just keep sending you those crappy ones. That first yellow one looks like the one thats going to be the race car. Please do a Mexico Blue, like yellow one and I will leave you alone. :) Man! If I can ever help you with something just say the word! ;) Thanks for your grayish help Man! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1133410246.jpg |

Gulf Blue looks *****in. I would like to see the orange stripe added. MMM. How about Viper green!
|
|
This an awesome thread... I have a backdated 77 and now I am thinking RSR!
:D From the begining of this thread there was some suggestion that you may use the late 964 wings modified for this project however you have opted for the early wings after all. I heard there was a panel available in glass that allows the use of late wings with early hoods and bumpers. Kinda like a wrap-around filler piece, which plugs the gap left with late wings for the indicator sections. Anyone heard of this mystery panel? :) Fantastic thread though.. |
Yes, from Damon at Series900. He contributes to plenty of threads and his products have been showcased in at least one backdate followed on Pelican.
|
Joseph,
I'll do a couple more versions for you if you'd like with Doc's blessing, just don't want to HiJack Doc's thread. Viper Green seems to be very popular right now. Gulf Blue with black graphics and black wheels has always been one of my favorites but I can do a version with orange trim. I'm away from my normal computer (Mac) on business until tomorrow night so I'll get back to ya. |

Do that thing you do!;) SO WELL! :D |

yes, i make the mystery panels, and i think i can also be credited for the FRP long/short hood backdate. trouble with glass parts, anyone can see the product and then duplicate, price war ensues, with no design patents. oh well ;>) the creative mind is a wonderful curse...

Doc,
Interesting. I too am a ME and I currently work for Daimler Chrysler. The reason I had asked, is that I too am pondering the idea of going into some type of privately owned automotive business. I tried to get something started a few years ago (not Porsche), but things didn't work out....picked a bad partner. However, I did get the opportunity to build a killer Probe GT...before you laugh, check out the website, all custom with 345 WHP. I didn't get bit by the Porsche bug until later in life, about 25. Ever since then, I eat, sleep, and dream Porsches...my friends and family think I have a problem and constantly give me a hard time, but what do they know  Long story short, I have thus far bought 2 Porsches (doubling my goal of owning 1 Porsche by age 29) and in the process of working on them, I have been getting some pretty good 'business' ideas. However, I have not quite convinced myself into taking the plung. So, I just like to chat with folks that have. What interests me about your shop, is the focus on older models, which are amongst my favourite. And from what I read on forums, the same is probably true with a lot of people. Maybe someday we'll have to talk about an RSR. |
Hey CreatuR,
If you want to make money service American or imports cars. If its because it a real passion. Do the type cars you have that passion for! This is not a easy business and you will have bust your butt to make it work. I make less money now than when I was an M. E. with a nice cushy job. ALWAYS remember Quality is Job #1!! But I am sure you've heard that before. :D That couldn't be more true. My nich is just be honest! The local service stuff is really my bread and butter and pays the bills and stuff. The racing, restoration, fab, paint & body, and building Porsche hot rods is the real core of my passion so we do it. It's the ME coming out in me. I am a very very lucky SOB to have a job that I love! You have to have this crazy passion for it and the drive to fuel it. But the biggest thing is being able to TAKE the leap of faith! BIG! Some fokes will think your crazy and some will praise you for having the balls to do it. Go with your HEART Man! Then live with it. You may fale or do well. But you will never know till you try! Good Luck! ;) SmileWavy |
Your're a good man Doc,
I'd send you a new photoshop piece if I had my Mac with me. |

The GT3 RS did come in blue as well. That Joesph Herreros' viper green car will certainly turn some heads!
Doc, It is great to see the transformation-- really like a sculpture... Why all this for a c4 though? Isn't it a bit heavier and less nimble on the track? |
