What can be done to prevent rear sway bar bracket from cracking?
Can the bracket be strengthened by spot welding? Should I even be concerned about breakage? I'll be doing DEs next year and my goal is to keep the car totally stock. No plans to upgrade the suspension until I get more seat time.

You can strengthen the way the bracket mounts to the tub; some weld a diagonal brace made of flat steel strap to triangulate it to the floor pan. But the next problem you're likely to encounter is the threaded nuts tearing out of the bracket itself. There are then "fixes" for that problem. I'm on my second round of repairs - original brackets tore away from the body, replaced with factory "upgraded" brackets. Those tore out so I got another pair of factory brackets and added the Smart Racing reinforecement kits (they use a long threaded tube instead of a nut, and add a 4th welded-in side which "boxes" the bracket. So far so good. BUT - had the new WEVO part been available I definitely would have used that!

In your case, since your mount hasn't been compromised yet install the Smart Racing reinf. plates. They're cheap, well made and a good welder can probably install them in 2 hrs.
