You know - I was helping a buddy try and find a used one several months ago and thought to myself that this would be a great opportunity to have one made out of CF or composite as well as the fan shroud.
As these things fail, there is going to be a market for them.

I believe 80 to 89 911 and 78 to 89 930 are the same 240mm fan.

Are they all made of magnesium?
Can they be made of aluminum instead? If someone works (or has a friend that do) at a foundry I bet they can be made.

Vertex makes an aluminum one. I don't think JB weld is out of the question especially if you prepare the notch surface correctly. The density of hardened JB weld is probably similar to magnesium.
